Two DC August Solicits
May. 15th, 2010 06:08 pmTwo new August solicits for DC that interested me.

DC UNIVERSE LEGACIES #4
Written by LEN WEIN
Art by JOSE LUIS GARCIA-LOPEZ & DAVE GIBBONS and JOE KUBERT with SCOTT KOLINS
Cover by JOSE LUIS GARCIA-LOPEZ & DAVE GIBBONS
1:25 Variant cover by JOE KUBERT
The DC Universe moves forward and evolves when a new generation of heroes inspired and mentored by the Silver Age's greatest come together to fight the good fight. Robin, Kid Flash, Speedy, Wonder Girl and Aqualad - the Teen Titans hit the scene! At the same time, heroic humans without powers reunite to remember Sgt. Rock in a story by Joe Kubert!
Retailers please note: This issue will ship with two covers. Please see the Previews Order Form for more information.
On sale AUGUST 18 * 4 of 10 * 40 pg, FC, $3.99 US

THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD #36
Written by J. MICHAEL STRACZYNSKI
Art and cover by JESUS SAIZ
When Adam Strange offered Lois Lane the chance to file a story from Rann, she jumped at it - but she wasn't expecting to become an interstellar war correspondent! It's another surprising single-issue epic from the Eisner-nominated team of Straczynski and Saiz!
On sale AUGUST 18 * 32 pg, FC, $2.99 US
This issue will hopefully be excellent. There are not enough good Lois stories out there. Though I am a bit surprised to realize JMS is still on Brave and the Bold, along with Wonder Woman and Superman.
recommended tags - char: lois lane, char: adam strange, group: teen titans, publisher: dc comics, title: the brave and the bold

Date: 2010-05-15 10:40 pm (UTC)Hell Yes! To Adam Strange & Lois Lane though. Those two should get along great.

Date: 2010-05-15 11:20 pm (UTC)Can't we relive the gold or bronze ages?

Date: 2010-05-15 11:42 pm (UTC)We, as in Scans Daily, do. We, as in the writers at DC, don't. (Though to be fair, this is only part four, so it's likely some bronze age lovin' might be happening also.)

Date: 2010-05-16 04:28 am (UTC)If the new nostalgia was all like THE NEW FRONTIER, we'd all love it as much as the writers and editors want us to.

Date: 2010-05-16 01:21 pm (UTC)sorry having trouble posting the entire thing - Sunday morning brain I guess or divine intervention for sleeping in rather than churching, so it's in icon form. I love the gargoyle.
love your icon - is that the gardening one right before Krypto goes a'diggin?

Date: 2010-05-15 11:52 pm (UTC)And Golden Age stuff is mocked and ridiculed just as much as Silver Age around here.

Date: 2010-05-16 02:08 am (UTC)This series covers both of those as well. It spans the Golden Age to the present day.

Date: 2010-05-16 12:48 am (UTC)The DC Legacies thing doesn't bother me because it's going to cover everything from then to present day -- and it has nothing to do with bringing certain characters back. It's just about showcasing how the superhero world has evolved and changed.
Also, pretty art.
Mmm eff yeah Lois.
To me, the most rage worthy thing would be to bring the Big Seven back for the JLA :*D I HAVE SUCH EDGY OPINIONS, I KNOW, but it is true. Not showcasing this legacy stuff.

Date: 2010-05-16 01:46 pm (UTC)But what the heck, we can change everything, we are (duh, duh, duh) DC! The laws of physics, common decency, story continuity and sensibility (and shall I continue?) need not apply!
