Date: 2010-05-19 12:19 pm (UTC)Either that or DC's editors just don't bother talking to each other to make sure they aren't allowing something in their book that's going to make something in another book completely nonsensical.

Date: 2010-05-18 05:43 pm (UTC)What's really annoying is seeing what was and what could have been. I was just flipping through Batman Plus Arsenal, and it too had another great Lian moment and.....argh.
And people wonder why the Teen Titans TV series was so well received? It was because it wasn't THIS grimdark stuff. It's not that this isn't well written...it is. But it keeps happening to the Titans. And it's filled with so much facepalm in regards to what happened afterwards that it almost hurts.

Date: 2010-05-18 06:52 pm (UTC)Interestingly enough, pretty dark stuff happened in the TV Series (especially with Slade involved) and the characters often go to dark places because of that, but the way it was handled wasn't as depressing as the stuff we get in the comics and they made due without killing the characters left and right.
I really never understood why they feel the need to go all grimdark in a teen series. Teens want action, romance and drama. Slice of live inbetween the superhero action. Not death and destruction every 5 issues.

At this point, tradition?
I'm with you. I think it started because the first time characters died it was shocking, then they really got stuck in a rut and that helped it drop from the premier book it was at one point, but the legacy lives on.

Date: 2010-05-18 07:12 pm (UTC)We get it, these peoples lives pretty much suck do you have to rub it in our faces every book?
If they keep killing people in the Teen Titans or that have been Titans, with the new thing about no resurrections half the dc universe is going to be dead...

Date: 2010-05-18 11:00 pm (UTC)I would say it's sort of like... a group support system for them. And maybe it was back in the 80's, but NOW they don't even like eachother so that isn't even a good explanation.

Date: 2010-05-18 11:10 pm (UTC)It's not like there's not solo work or other teams. Every one of them could hero elsewhere and I think spends a significant amount of time heroing on their own.
They seem to be heroing together out of habit. I mean, a few of them it's the only place where they have friends, but not for most.

Date: 2010-05-18 08:39 pm (UTC)Ha,ha,ha,ha! You don't know much, do you, Jen?
"Dead? Donna's not really dead, Daddy. She'll come back like Uncle Ollie did, you'll see.
You're right, Lian. Donna did come back just like "Uncle Ollie". You on the other being just a kid with no powers and the daughter of a former sidekick to a second-tier hero who was was horrifically killed off in a cheat move in critically lambasted story so your Daddy can became a one-armed Punisher clone- odds are YOU aren't coming back. And that sums up just about everything wrong with DC...
"When are the people I love going to stop dying?"
Ask Dan Didio and Geoff Johns, Gar. They're the ones who seem to get off on killing all your friends.
*Sorry to be so bitter, this is just depressing in light of what the DCU has become.*

Date: 2010-05-19 03:54 am (UTC)*The Young Justice Team Consist of Damien Wayne(Robin),Lian Harper(Red Arrow 2), Milargo Reyes(Green Lantern), Chris Kent(Superboy) and King and Queen(Empresses Parents) and Miss Mercury(Iris West)
The whole thing is pretty much about how much Young Justice don't want to tell the TT about how much the Teen Titans is considered now by many to be a failure that should have folded even before the curse was made known because of the unusual high death toll out of respect for their mentors and the fact that they are the last incarnation of Titans before they fold into Young Justice 2.0. That's the basic outline of it, and one day I may post it but now I rather focus on becoming a better writer then let a cool idea like this be in a badly written fan fic.

Date: 2010-05-19 12:22 pm (UTC)You'd think one or more the forces that revived Ollie or Donna or, well, anyone would think "I shouldn't really, but dammit, she was only five. Talitha Cumi, sweetheart!"
The trouble is the longer she remains dead, the more new writers come in who haven't ever written or been fond of the character, and so don't feel any particular need to ask editorial if they could please bring her back.

Date: 2010-05-20 11:12 am (UTC)in before: but loosing a child is a different thing...!!!!!
yes, of course, but the outlook on death and life, the sensibility he shows here, is not part of the characterization he got in RoA, amount of suffering notwithstanding, and this piles up with the library of complaints I have in store about the demolition of Roy's character.
