perletwo: the legion's big three (legion - trinity)
[personal profile] perletwo posting in [community profile] scans_daily
2 1/2 pages from Brave & Bold #34, which teams up the Legion of Super-Heroes circa the old Adventure Comics days with the original Doom Patrol, for part 1 of a 2-part story. I just wanna know how much icon_uk had to pay the creative team here to get such a fanservice-y opening to our tale...

So naturally their solution is to go back into the past using a time bubble. Did you know the Legion has a powers archive, and Saturn Girl is the keeper of it? They do, she is, and she takes them right to the Doom Patrol to enlist Negative Man's help.

It should be noted that even in her skivvies, Saturn Girl still looks better dressed than she did in the hot-pink stripper costume (see my icon).

tag suggestions.

My favourite part of this issue was 'It's pink and white fluff...' *looks at Rokk*

I can't wait 'till next month to find out what the heck is the deal with the fluff.

Congratulations, JMS, you've made a random lump of dryer lint a Great Mystery. >_>

Ahh... Cos... keeping DC's tradition of charismatic, handsome, barely dressed, blue eyed leaders with dark hair and killer bods alive a thousand years from now... then he has to spoil it by putting a costume on top... BRING BACK THE BOY-BASQUE!

He still wears it on weekends and vacations, I bet. Oh, and to autograph sessions. :p

Cos should also be R. J. Brande's real kid, instead of it being Cham. Because no less an American authority than Lisa Bernbach of The Official Preppie Handbook fame said that Preppies were the only American subculture in the 20th Century that encouraged manly guys to wear pink in public. So one thousand years down the line...

What's with the Doom Patrol and black holes?

They certainly do as of late. People with black holes for faces, whatever this is, etc.

Not just blackholes, portals in general seem to follow the Patrol around a lot lately.

The cover art horrified me, but this isn't so bad.

What a shame that I'm broke again. :/

You know, the titles of this entry and the previous one both came in at the same time on my RSS, and for some reason my brain combined them and said "Dare I hope?"

I'm not disappointed, interestingly enough.

I'm pretty sure that's supposed to be teraelectron volts. As prefixes, terra has to do with earth, tera means 10^9.

And if that is what they mean, their black hole couldn't power a lightbulb.

"~624 PeV (600,000 EeV, 600,000,000 TeV): energy needed to power a single 100 watt light bulb for one second. (100W = 100J/s = ~6.24x10^20 eV/s)."

I wish they hadn't put their costumes on. It would be kind of hilarious (and hot) to see the Legion saving the world in their pjs.

Hey, the enlightened world of the 30th century should be above clothes. Beyond them. Whatever, naked is the point.

That's how they roll in Winath, at least. Except for Winath-Prime, which was revealed to be populated by isolationist hicks that "never heard of Planet Bismoll."

The Legion has armbands that can protect them from the various dangers of space (vacuum, radiation, etc.). So why not similar armbands that keep your body warm like clothing is supposed to do, so you can walk around naked? Heck, you could probably design it to be bulletproof and stuff, while still able to feel the breeze or the grass under your feet.

Jesus Saiz is like a modern day Jim Aparo. Sure, there's a good deal of same-face, but it's all done so well you don't care.
