GilbertMusings.com has more absolutely phenomenal art from the upcoming hardcover in August.

Pretty art behind the cut.

One of the key things I read in the interviews between Morrison and Singh is that it's a "labor of love". And boy does this show it. I mean, look at the detail on the last pic with the dinosaurs... there is slobber on the bottom lip of the closest one. You can practically smell the breathe of the beast, hear the technology and clang of armor and feel the pressurized air around you as air craft fly overhead.

DC. Marvel. Next major "company defining" epic... GET THIS GUY to do it!

- Of note, this will also be an animated series! The art is for the hardcover book that precedes it. I have no idea to the quality of the animation itself. I hope it measures up to the book.

For legality, the aforementioned Grant Morrison cover to "Vimanarama" #1, the last time he played with the mythology.

Reminds of "Dinotopia".

If they get around to creating a depiction of Goddess Kali in this, I can definitely predict an entire generation will have to change their underwear.

Gurney wrote a book a little while ago about how he sets up to do his art. He's got a pretty interesting and very involved practice.

There is NO WAY series animation could possibly live up to this, unless you had a budget as high as freakin' Neptune! Feature, I could see it, although you'd still probably have to cut corners a bit, but the level of detail would still be a huge bitch.

That said, if we get something that rises above the heavily stylized DCU work in terms of detail (maybe even above Avatar: The Last Airbender, and manage to keep the story intact (an even more difficult feat, given TV regulators), I'll be happy.

My God, this looks so organically awesome. If the animated series is even a third as epic as this, it'll blow everybody's minds.

Yeah, I think I had my first one for either for Amy Hadley's Madame Xanadu art or for Nicola Scott.

Aaron "The Mad Whitaker" Bourque; just Nicola Scott. All of her stuff is amazing.

Still gorgeous. My brother Matthew is a really good artist, and was instantly jealous looking at the previous post.
