The Trevor Von Eeden interview I conducted is finally out today! It’s in the latest issue of The Comics Journal (#298) and like the cover states, it’s a brutally honest take on Von Eeden’s early years, working at Marvel Comics, the demise of Thriller, his relations with Lynn Varley & Frank Miller, industry politics, racism, lawsuits, and much more. An excerpt can be seen at The Comics Journal website: http://tcj.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=1042&Itemid=48

Behind the cut there are a few interview responses that were edited out from the final piece, a slew of artwork that complements the interview, and creator quotes by Mark Waid, David Mazzucchelli, Tony Isabella, and Erik Larsen. Major thanks to Johnny Bacardi aka [insanejournal.com profile] jbacardi for his help in connecting me with Von Eeden and for his fantastic Thriller website. Check out his side of the story at: http://johnnybacardi.blogspot.com/2009/06/looking-for-thriller-news-and.html

In 1981, after thirteen years of surviving on licensed comics, Charlton was falling apart. A new volume of Charlton Bullseye was launched to feature new talent and hopefully strike gold, and the first issue went to writer Benjamin Smith and artist Dan Reed, who decided the thing Charlton needed was something it already had.

This next post needs little introduction from me. There is no context necessary. It may in fact be the scariest part of Monster, and what introduced me to the anime (I watched that before I read the manga, truth be told). It is a short video, depicting the picture book "The Monster Without A Name".

Okay, so after some time lurking, I finally decided to sign up for this shindig again. Some of you might remember me from my Suicide Squad posts back at the old scans_daily. I was really impressed by the One Perfect Moment week a while back, so I wanted to present a Perfect Moment (tm) for the latest Union Jack, Joey Chapman.

Mark Waid's run on The Brave and the Bold was pretty, pretty crack that gave us some truly unforgettable team-ups.

In The Brave and the Bold #16, the team-up is Superman and Catwoman, and it is awesome. The story takes place in the loose continuity of "a few years ago", so you're encouraged not to nitpick at the continuity too much and just relax and enjoy the crack.
