They're finally advertising the Zatanna ongoing over at the DCUblog; they've even got some inks up.
( They look pretty good. )
Secret Six #18 preview

Last Stand of the Wreckers, a five-issue IDW miniseries set post-AHM, concerns.. well, the Wreckers.
Reassembled following Megatron's post-Nemesis Prime blitzkrieg (the old team gets bolstered by some existing characters, some new ones, and at least one WHUT), their first mission is to retake Cybertronian prison planet Garrus-9 from the Decepticons.
But a team like the Wreckers need someone as basterd-y as them to contend with, and since Galvatron's nowhere near Garrus-9 at this point...
( Enter Overlord; your spilt energon's all the pay he'll ever need. )

30 Days of Night
Feb. 4th, 2010 05:13 pmI'm not going to post anything from the prologue or epilogue, and I'm not going to put much effort into summarizing the plot. Many of you will have seen the movie of the same name. As for the rest of you: Barrow Alaska is the northernmost settlement in North America. At the height of winter, it experiences 30 days of night. (Actually 67, but whatevs). Vampires take advantage of this. Cue panic in the streets.
What I want to do instead, is highlight the awesome art, which I'm going to say upfront, will not be to everyone's taste.
I also would have loved to show the creative team's ability to build suspense, but it doesn't seem to translate well to the SD posting format. D: So yeah, go pick up the book.

PS. Sorry for the spam, but. Yeah. Oops.

Last month, we saw the Graphic Novel form of Artimes Fowl, and we seen Cho and Val raise to the occasion as being just as smart as the grown-up scientists in Marvel. But I present to you my favorite kid genius from the Megaman Battle Network Games/Manga. This is Sean Obihiro.

Everything's Better with Bone
Feb. 4th, 2010 06:46 pmBecause, you know, there can never be enough love for Jeff Smith's Bone and, shockingly, despite all those Eisners and Harvey Awards, apparently none's been posted since S_D 1.0 got TOSed. Something I now intend to correct.
This selection's from the colored version of "Out From Boneville" from Scholastic Inc.

Children of Birds of Prey
Feb. 4th, 2010 10:43 pmWith the return of Birds of Prey on a bright and shiny horizon, I've been thinking about all the things I'd love to see there. High atop my wishlist, is seeing three particular relationships restored and/or acknowledged.
It is an odd double standard that people like Batman and Green Arrow can have a thousand kids apiece and yet, when female characters take on parental roles, the relationships don't last long in canon, they get ignored or generally get treated as though they are of lesser value. And I think that kinda sucks, big time.
In chronological order, here's a bit about three younger heroes who have had Birds of Prey characters as parents: Cassandra Cain, Sin, and Misfit. (It's heavy on Cass, scan-wise.)
( fair warning: this is a long and image-heavy post )

Cry for Justice question
Feb. 4th, 2010 11:40 pmWhen will I be able to post the Shade vs. Prometheus scene from the last issue? Or has the page limit been reached already?
