Think of categories for the big award!

Hey everyone! Since Scans_Daily and NoScans_Daily has been up for a year now, salad_barbarian and I thought we’d take a little look at the good stuff and bad stuff that has happened in comics during that time. In order to do that, we figured we’d have a little award show, since that time is upon us and all. Enter THE DAILIES AWARDS! It will be posted or broadcast, so to speak, both on Scans_Daily and NoScans_Daily.

Now what we need from you gentle readers, are suggestions for categories we can use. Think about it and feel free to suggest something you feel is particularly of interest to these communities, or just something that needs to be acknowledged. The idea is to celebrate the best and worst in comics and to showcase them to those who might not have been aware of it. We have come up with the following:

I've just returned from the grave of s_d 1.0. Saddest thing is, I didn't even know that this community had been resurrected 'til I saw a mention of it on a fellow comic-phile's Facebook.

I have the issue I scanned this from in a box someplace, but I'm not willing to dig it up for the ish number. I will say that it's from the early '90s, but the prominence of Rage lets us know that much.

P.S. I'll give a sweaty new no-prize to anyone who can tell me how to cut on DW. We'll all benefit from the exchange of knowledge once I get a scanner.

Okay, here is my counterargument to my learned friend benicio127 's intriguing, if IMHO slightly flawed, supposition that Jason Todd has better thighs than Dick Grayson.

Whilst I am the last person to deny the intrinsic beauty of any of the Robin's, I simply can't let a claim like that stand! :)

For the sake of fairness, I've limited myself to images from published comics (so no commissions, with two exceptions I'll mention as we go along) or licensing art, which DC acknowledge as being "real".

So in the words of the lad himself, in a fine example of my point...

Ares and Graces*

Following his appearance in Girl comics #1, I want to do an Ares Minipost. He's the best "new" character to come out of Marvel since Civil War and I've really enjoyed the push that he's received under Bendis and Gillen.

There is a line before me that demarcates where you stop being treated as citizens and start being treated as soldiers. It is a line that only I can see and I swear unto all of you -- once you cross it you have declare war. Against your city, against your government...and against me. And make no mistake: I love to fight wars.

I looked through the Lian and Justice League of America tags, and I didn't find this page. This is Roy introducing Lian to his new girlfriend, Hawkgirl. (It comes right after that panel in the Lian megapost the other day, of Cheshire hugging Lian in the prison cell.)

As for the fanart, sharpest_asp is doing a Lian Deserves Better ficathon through March. I got nothin' for fic, but the idea for this sketch popped into my head, and after ruminating on the details for a couple days, I did this quickie version. Really quickie - it's the work of about an hour, and the scanner cut it off a bit at the top and bottom, so don't expect Michaelangelo.

Gratuitous Butt Shot Week: City of Heroes

I'm pretty much sure that I'm not the only member of this comm that subscribes to City of Heroes/City of Villains, the MMORPG  that lets you create heroes and villains and pit them against each other or other foes. I'm also pretty sure that I'm not the only CoH player that subscribes to Francis Ray Ottoman's credo that, if you're gonna look at someone's butt for four-hundred-odd hours, it should be one that you like looking at. CoH is noted among MMORPGs for the high degree of customizability of characters at the onset of character creation, although certain pieces are either unlocked through performing missions or reaching a certain level or length of subscription, or by buying them either with the in-game currency or real money. This, of course, brings us to the subject at hand (phwoar!). What are some of the options for rolling yer own bootyliciousness? (I'm only showing the female options because that's my area of interest; otherwise-enclined s_d/CoH people may do their own post.)
