I've been a bit surprised at the complete lack of Spider-Man entries for Gratuitious Butt-Shot Week. I mean, come on -- they're the Spectacular Spider-Buttocks! The most famous ass in Marvel, and justifiably so!

I tried to find some examples in my scans folder, but I keep forgetting that I have so many files in there I can never find anything on purpose. However, I did finda little gem from ASM Annual 18 (plot Tom DeFalco, writer Stan Lee, pencils by Ron Frenz, cover date 1984) which I'm sharing with you now. In a way it's good that I'm posting this today, because it's a nice antidote to the ridiculousness with Peter and Jameson going on right now.

Wedding bells are ringing... )

And now I challenge you all -- bring on the Spider-Butt!

So it's gratuitous butt shots we're wanting, eh? I turn here to three panels from "Dazzler The Movie" for bringing sexy back:

What, you were expecting something more fanservice-y? Well then... )

There's more fanservice where that came from, but these are the best butt-specific bits. :D

I loved this issue and loved the issue of Red Robin. I'm not sure which one I liked better. Maybe Batgirl! So hard to choose, they were both pretty awesome.

Two spoilery pages from Batgirl! Spoilers!
Boom.  )

Still trying to find the issue in particular, but when last we saw the intrepid (and sexy!) Zachary Zatara, he was chained to a pillar by Mirabai the Forlorn, magical ally of Sam Lane and general scary (and sexy!) witch. The Captain Atom backup story in Action Comics this week has him show up again.

Now, there was a mention earlier in the same issue about how time is flowing differently in Mirabai's world. Nathaniel had been back on Earth for a few days, while eight months passed in Mirabai's world, and Zach was captured a while before that as well. So, I ask it to you, s_d'ers...

Zachary Zatara - The teenager that time forgot, or just a victim of different art style and stubble?

Via The Beat: Pop Candy has a sneak preview of the graphic novel adaptation of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. I must say, even for black and white, the art here looks worlds better than Marvel's adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. I think I'll be picking this one up. The book is due out May 4th.

wabbitseason: art by cliff chiang (mockingbird)

[personal profile] halloweenjack asked about the early black and white story featuring Bobbi Morse in her pre-Mockingbird days. She'd already appeared in a couple of issues of Astonishing Tales by the time this was printed.

This story was in Marvel Super Action #1 and reprinted in the recent Avengers: Hawkeye hardcover collection. Bobbi Morse was known as the Huntress here. The artwork and format reminds me of those British black & white magazines I've seen.

According to the title page the story was written by Mike Friedrich and art by George Evans.

The story is 20 pages, so I've included the first five pages or so.

So now we get to find out what's up with some of the other mutants on the run. The cover art makes my eye twitch, but the art inside the book isn't that bad, even with a few somewhat WTF panels.

I've been rereading old 90s X-Men lately and this was the first image I thought of when I saw the week's theme. (And then I couldn't remember what issue it was from and had to look back through what I've been reading.)

It's definitely gratuitous but not exactly eye candy, at least IMO. I remember my het guy friends mocking this page back when it first came out, so I know I'm not the only one who looked at this and went, "Um, I don't think that produced the effect you were going for..."

Nice rear. Terrible angle. )
