Stan Lee and Paul Cornell's Soldier Zero
Oct. 28th, 2010 08:51 amarbre_rieurSOLDIER ZERO #1 came out this month. It's the first comic of the new superhero line that Stan Lee is doing in conjunction with Boom! Studios. I know that Stan Lee's name gets attached to a half dozen new projects every day of the week that ends in Y, but by all indications he's genuinely hands-on involved with this one, overseeing the books every step of the way.
He's paired with a different writer for each of the titles in the line, but in SZ's case, he's working with Paul Cornell. Judging by the first issue, the two of them have managed to create a superhero very much in the classic Stan Lee mode.

A Bad Romance
Oct. 28th, 2010 09:34 amcuntfuciusI'm tired of everyone picking on my hunk of a man, Terry Long. If he shaved his beard, you guys would be all over him. In fact, I am going to do a series one day of photoshopping his beard out of the equation, and see how the reception of his scenes change. Is it because he doesn't have a stylish villain goatee instead? Or Ollie's sexy beard?
A happier time for Donna Troy! I'll showcase all of her loves: The First Love (Roy Harper), The Love of Her Life (Terry Long), and The Second Chance at Love (Kyle Rayner). But right now, only Terry Long, because he is way sexier than Roy and Kyle.

Beasts of Burden / Hellboy: Sacrifice #1
Oct. 28th, 2010 01:16 pmsherkahnAs usual, the creators at DarkHorse for this project deliver a sharp tight story with good art, great characterization with real emotion, drama, risk and danger and a good pay off. And the addition of Hellboy and his universe to it just spices it up more for Halloween.

Where it is is the fourth of Christos Gage and Mario Alberti's Spider-Man/Fantastic Four series.
Three seperate stories've passed, in earlier days- Spidey and Johnny in the midst of Doom and Namor, Peter and Reed versus a certain symbiote escaping its confines and taking unwilling hosts, and a little more of the New Fantastic Four's dealings with the Skrull mindwhammier De'Lila.
Each of them has had a linking thread- a familiarly armored, extratemporal figure who shows up after each fact, to steal a little piece of the story, that they may be knit into a dangerous whole.
The fourth issue, then, answers the implied question:
( What could a man with Doom's intellect build given the best of the Latverian monarch's occult libraries, a snatch of symbiote, and Technotroid scrapings? )
