I was going to add this to the last Brave and the Bold post, but... nah, let's lavish a bit of attention on this story, which "Brave and the Bolds" Earth-1 Batman and Grant Morrison's output.... (eg mixes and matchs for as close to maximum awesomeness as possible).

The story opens with THIS image...

Love the BTAS style red skies! :) )

It's been almost a year since #3 came out, with #4 coming out in the summer. I know a lot of the steam this title built up is gone, but still it had some remarkable concepts and dialogue. With that said, Avatar Press has preview for the last issue of the Supergod mini, where man made superbeings go to war.

One behind the cut.

Lack of originality is disturbing )

I was looking at that post down lower, Grant Morrison's 'And Batman made me dye my hair to be more like Dick Grayson!' for Jason Todd thing, and I thought to myself, what I need to do is repost the Grant Morrison moment that broke me*.

This was originally posted back in the old livejournal scans_daily:

Sometimes I quote this when I want to make someone sad )

*'broke me' as in, 'no more. We're not going to work out, Mr. Morrison'. Not that I stuck with the no more decision, I lasted until his issue where he explained everything to Animal Man and waxed on about his dead cat

You know I couldn't pass up "Manga Day!"

"What's Michael?" isn't one of my personal favorites, but is one of the better manga for showing to people outside the hobby, and let's face it, cats are much beloved.

Michael is an orange tabby, like Garfield or Heathcliff, but unlike them isn't confined to a single continuity. The majority of stories have him living with a particular typical Japanese family, but others give him other owners, or take place in alternate universes, or focus more on the antics of humans who interact with cats. (For example, today's offering.) The manga really strikes a chord with cat lovers and cat owners, I've noticed, due to its humorous insights into cat and cat-person behavior.

The following adds up to 2 pages of 6 (and the way Imageshack is acting persnickety today, I'm glad I didn't try to upload twelve pages of a 36-page chapter) of a story published in "Super Manga Blast!" #16, October 2001. Pages were flipped, so read left to right.

The darkest secrets of cat aficionados. )

Another more recent manga to check out if you like cats is "Chi's Sweet Home" which is much more candy-coated.

Kodansha's Monthly Magazine Z serialized several adaptations of other media, from FLCL to Kamen Rider Spirits to Sakura Wars to Batman: Child of Dreams.

The last ran from November 2000 to 2001, written and drawn by Kia Asamiya; two years later, we got it translated, with a bit of punching up from Max Allan Collins of novelization and Road to Perdition fame.

The story initially concerns both a Japanese news crew attempting an expose on the Batman (I suppose that would be a ratings draw) and the Batman in question dealing with a sudden outbreak of copycat villains, drugged-up DNA-perfect duplicates committing crimes and dying in agony shortly after.

The two storylines intersect when a Joker copycat kidnaps the team's on-camera personality, Yuko Yagi. Batman runs into the doppelganger at the waterfront while tracking a lead; with ease, he saves the girl and defeats the clown.

(fair amount of scans under-cut, for those who need to know.)

We found out yesterday why the Prince of Orphans was hounding the previous Iron Fist all those years, and why he defected from following the leaders of the Heavenly Cities (because the leaders are lying, sanctimonious jerkasses).

But- what happened to that super-climactic revolution that was going down?

The revolution will not be televised... )

Okay, this may be an irritating way to start off a post, but I always feels it bares saying; it's my first, so I'm sorry if it's out of format.

I've been re-reading the Ctrl+Alt+Del webcomic and this one always sends me into giggles. It's beyond childish, but from my experiences on here, I wouldn't exactly call s_d "high-brow" so it might give you childish giggles, too.
