Unsurprisingly for a comic written by Ellis, SUPERGOD was plagued by extreme lateness. Surprisingly for a comic written by Ellis, he actually finished it. SUPERGOD #5 came out two weeks ago.

I was originally only going to post a few pages from that issue, but it occurred to me that the lengthy period in-between #4 and #5 might mean a refresher is in order. So, first, an (re)introduction to our cast of artifical deity-creatures.

My last Locke & Key post ended near the climax of the first TPB. So instead of spoiling the ending, let's skip ahead to some scene early in the second "season" of Locke & Key.

It all starts with Bode finding another magic key. But this one is different. It doesn't seem to open any door...

Hello and welcome to the 21st day of [community profile] scans_daily's 30 Days of Winter celebration! Today's topic is Not-Quite Comics!

Many of you've probably heard the definition before, "juxtaposed images in deliberate sequence", and that covers a lot! But what about the thing that almost, but don't quite follow all of those rules or fit in that definition? Woodcuts, picture books, tapestries, single-panel strips?

What about these Incredible pop-up books starring the Hulk? )

Well, today is their day. So post your favorite not-quite comics, or just any you think we might like to see. After all, today is all about them!
And stay tuned tomorrow, when the topic will be Lesser-known Comics! As always, you can check our full schedule to make sure you don't miss a day.

I have mixed feelings about teenage sidekick Jailbait and her relationship with Incorruptible's villain-turned-hero protagonist, Max Damage. It's unclear yet whether she'll be more than a source of Maxangst, and her sexual relationship with Max is explicitly statutory rape: Max's age is 28-30; Jailbait is sixteen and was fifteen when they met. (In a brothel!)

But I nonetheless enjoy Jailbait as a character, in a series with a surprisingly large percentage of female characters in its small cast. And I still find Max/Jailbait oddly adorable, in large part due to the scans below.

Half a page from Incorruptible #4 (art by Jean Diaz) and 4 pages from Incorruptible #7 (art by Horacio Domingues) below cut. Mark Waid is the writer.

I don't need to be *safe*, Max! )

I picked this off the rack at a whim last night, mostly out of curiosity about what the title could possibly mean. Suicide Forest is a four-issue horror comic from IDW, by El Torres and Gabriel Hernandez, about the Aokigahara Forest in Japan.

Newsarama has the preview of issue #18, and lots of players are out in the field.

And speaking of being out in the field, one moment that brought a smile to my face.

Well, it's that time of year again, so here's a post that's become sort of an annual S_D holiday tradition. From 1989's Christmas With the Super-Heroes, I bring a short holiday Deadman tale called "Should Auld Acquaintance Be Forgot."

There's Giordano art, too, if that entices you. )

For those who recall the fairly spectacular crash and burn of Dreamwave comics, which gained the Transformers comics licence from Hasbro in the early 2000's, and which finished in a cloud of unpaid freelancers and debts suggested at being around a quarter of a million dollars, with some hints that money had been hived off by the President of Dreamwave, Pat Lee.

From a most unexpected interview between Pat Lee and Rich Johnston at www.bleedingcool.com (Which Johnston compares to George W Bush asking to be interviewed by Michael Moore)
