Since Volume 1 finished this week, I want to have a little look back at some bits from S.H.I.E.L.D. (officially the worst comic to type), specifically The Night Machine )

In the most recent request post [personal profile] nezchan asked for some 80's independent posts. Well, this wasn't on the list requested, but I did just find it in a recent bit of longbox diving (along with some other surprises I might inflict upon you), so from 1985 may I present Jim Valentino's classic, courtesy of Aardvark/Vanheim, normalman

I spotted this over at fandom_lounge on Journalfen:

This is the news about the new Wonder Woman TV series. This is part of the leaked script for the pilot.

Pages 3-6: Buffy this isn’t: Diana’s first appearance, here in her guise as Wonder Woman, is a Hollywood Boulevard-based action sequence set, cringingly, to the outdated tune of Beyoncé’s “Single Ladies,” the first of many musical cues—including tracks by Lady Gaga and Kanye West—in the script, all of which seem to prove that a) Kelley is a few years behind the times, and b) he watches a lot of Glee, since nearly all of these songs have been covered by the show choir. We’re meant to see Diana as a fierce female warrior, lasso of truth at her side, as she takes down a fast-moving suspect, but there’s a weird juxtaposition between attempts at humor and plodding “action.”

This isn't to say that Donald doesn't get any good moments in his stories - he does - but most of the time, he's basically just a disaster magnet, and is frequently portrayed as a bit of a lunkhead and whipping boy.
'Most of the time'? 'Frequently'? 'Not so fast, there', you say. 'That implies there are exceptions.'
Well, now that you mention it...
