So... a question...
Mar. 22nd, 2011 07:17 pmblackruzsaI picked up Invincible Iron Man 501 and 502 just for the heck of it last time I went looking, and honestly bought them because I'm a freak who makes a point of picking up comics with Filipino characters in them...
But anyway....
I may not be the right one to ask, but so far, as I've gathered, Tony's looking for a mole in his operation which I no longer understand since it spanned 502 freaking issues...
(this is about the minor characters, btw, so no major major spoilers about Tony himself. It's more about L. Pimacher, Tim Cababa and a bit of Pepper)

But anyway....

I've done a series of little Ms. Marvel vignettes with some cool bits from her second solo series.The main reason why I'm into Carol is based on her life post House of M, leading into her Best of the Best arc.
Carol Danvers is an alcoholic. She's stuck as a B or C-list Avenger, just pottering about in the superhero leagues. She spends her free time on the couch, watching old movies and eating Ben and Jerry's. Her life is not going the way that she intended.
Then, Wanda Maximoff recreates the world and Carol Danvers arrives in the the House of M (which is probably my favourite Marvel "event" since the event cycle started). Carol is the number 1 sapien superhero in the world. Captain Marvel is successful and popular. She's got everything that she ever wanted.

This community was founded by slashers, feminists and LGBTQ comic fans. While membership has grown to include fans of all backgrounds, the ethos is designed to level the playing field for disprivileged people. Being new to the community is no excuse for ignorance of the rules.
A 101 COMMUNITY.
Scans Daily is a 101 level community. This means that while anti-oppression is written into the rules, you don't need to have a deep knowledge of anti-oppression theories, or activism. However, by joining this community, you commit to the underlying principles. The mod team hopes that people new to anti-oppression can learn from the community, while understanding that your fellow members are under no obligation to educate you. Learning is not a free pass to speak from ignorance or intolerance--we expect you to make a good faith effort, and know when to keep your peace. Because this is a cross-sectional community, we have provided resources for those of you who are curious to learn more about anti-oppression. Please make use of them. You are responsible for your own education.
DEVIL’S ADVOCATES AND SILENCING
The devil has enough advocates and does not need any more, so please think before you comment. This community was built to be a place where, amongst other things, slash could be freely discussed, monosexist attitudes could be challenged and heteronormativity questioned. Dismissing or questioning the validity of queer readings, and discussions of racism, heterosexism and other oppressions, has a silencing effect on members who are already marginalized. Silencing tactics will not be tolerated.
YOU HAVE ALTERNATIVES.
Like we said above: There are plenty of places to find scans and comics commentary. If you cannot abide by the rules and ethos of Scans Daily, we would suggest you leave. If you continually flout the rules or disregard the ethos you will be removed from the community. You will only get so many chances to improve on bad behaviour.

icon_ukNow, normally I'm a little dense in spotting some of the more complex or abstract forms of sexism. One of the benefits of being a regular here is that I hope I've gotten better at it...
