Mods, please delete this if it's not allowed, but I do feel this is relevant to the interests of the comm.
When I started reading comics, I avoided superhero comics because I was intimidated by their complex histories, but I promised myself that one day, I would read X-Men, because I love the movies.
Then I started reading Marvel superhero comics and I discovered that X-Men comics alone were an even greater undertaking, one I didn’t have the energy for. But X-Men: First Class the movie has revived that urge again, and I decided to go for it.
I have decided to start not at the very beginning, but at what we would now call the reboot, when Chris Claremont, Len Wein, and Dave Cockrum took over with Giant-Sized X-Men #1/X-Men #94 (though I may go back and read some of the earlier issues later.) And in the proud tradition of Tom vs. The DCU and Mark Reads, I’ll be blogging about these books issue by issue, and am also planning on reading the major spin-off series (New Mutants, Excalibur, X-Factor, Generation X, Adjectiveless, and Astonishing)
I've already done 4 issues, and invite you all to follow the rest. I'm reading all of X-Men so you don't have to!
For legality, let me show you a panel I looooooved from Uncanny X-Men #96, the latest issue I did.

By request from
auggie18, I present this rather awesome fight between Jean Grey and Sabretooth from (Adjectiveless) X-Men #28.
Some context. In order to stave off his bloodlust and maintain some semblance of humanity, Sabretooth has been using a telepath named Birdy to give him "the glow", a mental blast which functions basically as mutant prozac. When she's killed he decides the only logical conclusion is to go let Wolverine "do what needs to be done". Problem is, just a few issues ago Magneto went and ripped out all of Wolverine's adamantium and Logan's not in much of a position to do anything to anybody.
With Sabretooth on his doorstep, Xavier enters Creed's mind and discovers that he perfectly remembers all of his past victims, which is driving him even further into psychosis. Xavier decides that Sabretooth can be redeemed and thus they cage him up in the mansion and therapy begins.
This goes over about as well with the X-Men as you'd expect, but one member in particular is having serious reservations. After comforting Jubilee in the wake of a major Sabretooth-themed nightmare, Jean gathers Scott, Hank and Ororo at Harry's to talk about it. With all the questionable actions Xavier's taken lately (from having Storm steal for him up to the assault on Magneto), is this what they should be doing, or just another example of Charles losing it? The discussion goes from "well we took in Wolverine and Rogue and worked out okay" to "Sabretooth's powers aren't out of control he's just an evil guy who likes to use them to torture and kill people".
Things seem to keep getting worse with Sabretooth going out of his way to deeply freak out each and every person he encounters. Jean finally snaps and confronts Xavier directly. That's when Scott figures it out.

( Cue drama, as only the '90s can do it. )

I found this short comic on Pixiv, a Japanese-language fanart site. I have no idea what's going on here, but it made me laugh.
( Anakin is jealous of Han. ...I think. )
So mature, Anakin.
Well, dears, I have taken over requests-posting from Schmevil, as (as you know) she has ascended to a higher plane of Elder Modship and must not further be troubled by squiggling worms such as me and y'all*. As such -
Once every month you get the change to request scans without needing a post of your own. "I'd like to see some Fathom", "I'd like to see that time when the Wolfman met those clowns", "Can anyone post any of Brilliant Man-Spider number 968?" "I neeeed to see that panel where Doctor Strange says blistering barnacles" - be as specific (though also, as realistic) as you like. Everybody can, and is encouraged to, look through what the people want and provide if possible. Posting a request is no guarantee of its being filled, but request posts will be archived so that members can look through comments from previous months and answer them if they so desire.
So, Scans Daily: DEMAND IT. They're always telling us we have.

Four pages from The Mighty Thor #3 (I swear, Coipel's constant double-page layouts are done deliberately to mess with me). The confrontation between Asgard and the Silver Surfer continues, but what we're really interested in, to quote Troy McClure, is hardcore nudity.
X-MEN #12 - Hey, it's those guys!
Jun. 22nd, 2011 06:45 pm"First to Last" is the current X-Men story that started in X-MEN GIANT SIZE and continues in the (current) adjective-less X-MEN series. X-MEN #12 came out on June 2, and even though X-MEN #13 came out June 15, it is still less than a month old. So I'm only posting 4 pages.
A rather ominous looking group called the Evolutionaries have decided its time for mutants to inherit the Earth. So the Evolutionaries want to kill all humans and seem to have the power to do so. The strange part? Scott suddenly remembers them from the days of the original team, but Warren and Bobby don't.
Meanwhile, 2.7 million years ago...

Jun. 22nd, 2011 07:50 pmOkay, so I'll leave it to someone else to post what they want. Im posting information that might lead to answers as to why Wonder Woman and the Amazons (as well as the Atlanteans) are the way they are in this universe.
( This seems Interesting )
sooo what do you think? (interesting? bleh? still annoyed? should it have been told in HER book?) it might still be told in Wonder Woman and the Furies.

Interesting bit of information... see if you get it, it took a few seconds to realize what this meant.
