Northstar! Special Returning Character!
Apr. 15th, 2009 01:30 pmFour scans from Uncanny X-Men #508, featuring surprisingly tolerable art from Greg Land.
In our first scene, we drop in on Jean-Paul Beaubier/Northstar, currently living it up as a sports superstar

If anyone's temperament says "Chief Operating Officer", it's Aurora.

So, is Aurora coming too?
Anyway, elsewhere, Red Queen and co. have stolen Kwannon's body, and it turns out they've also got Psylocke (apparently now back from the Exiles):

There are two different interpretations of this scene in circulation: the first, that they reanimated Kwannon's body (which used to be Psylocke's) and transferred Psylocke's mind into it, or they reanimated Kwannons body and used Psylocke's lifeforce to resurrect Kwannon (thus, by implication, killing Psylocke).
Regardless, doubtless Psylocke will be alive by arc's end, and in her standard Asian body, since that's the one they make all the action figures of (and all adaptations of the character use).
From the first preview that I saw of Land's art, I thought "that looks surprisingly tolerable for Greg Land"; and, having read the whole issue, that still holds. He's still a bad artist and lazy thief to boot, but he didn't ruin the issue; I'm still using the "thief: greg land" tag, though.

Date: 2009-04-15 12:52 pm (UTC)Of course, Surge and Cannonball are both really fast (though Cannonball is a less surgical way), so, again, maybe it is a PR thing.

Date: 2009-04-15 12:54 pm (UTC)Of course, the problem is they've NEVER had a flying speedster on their teams before.
Quicksilver's only X-team membership was the Government funded X-factor and he can't fly, whereas Cannonball can fly fast but hasn't got superspeed otherwise.

Date: 2009-04-16 07:07 am (UTC)Sure, other mutants can go fast but that's not really what they do, just a side effect. None of the others have super fast reflexes, they can just go fast in a line.
Hell, who wouldn't want Northstar on their team?
