Oldpost rebuilding, part one: CP9

I thought I'd try to help get the comm up and buzzing again by recreating some of my old scans_daily posts. Not all of them, of course, just a few of the ones I thought were good fun. In no particular order, we begin with a brief scene from One Piece, introducing the assassin group Cipher Pol Nine, who served as the main adversaries of the Straw Hats through the Water Seven and Enies Lobby arcs. They are also cracky as all hell.

Few words of explanation: All of CP9 have been trained in a martial art called Rokushiki or 'Six Forms'. Each form is a technique that gives the user a certain superhuman ability. Most of them are irrelevant to this section, except 'Tekkai' (lit. Iron Mass) which temporarily gives the user superhuman damage resistance. Remember that.

I have two theories on that. One is that Kalifa expects guys to sexually harass her, so she preemptively cuts them all off at the knees. The other possibility is, of course, that she literally hates Spandam enough to consider his existence harrassment.

It's worth noting that once she gets special powers and has the opportunity to pick her field of battle, she ends up in a bedroom, taking a bubble bath. Afterwards she gets dressed behind a curtain designed to show off her silhouette, and fights in a manner that involves groping and rubbing her opponent all over. Oh, and her opponent just happens to be female -- against her previous opponent, a male, she just teased and tempted him a little, then beat the stuffing out of him.

In other words, I think there's a certain amount of projection going on in Kalifa's 'sexual harassment' claims. Something along the lines of, 'If I had a woman as hot as I am in front of me, I'd be harassing the living daylights out of her,' perhaps?

Baroque Works were a lot of fun too. Oda writes some of the best miniboss squads.

Well, when he wants to, at least. Eneru's priests were weaksauce on a cracker, but I'm guessing that was kind of the point.

Well Eneru was so hardcore he didn't really need a miniboss squad.

Besides, Eneru's minibosses weren't bad so much as really forgettable. That speaks for Oda that even his worst effort isn't bad so much as just not attention grabbing.
