A happy little pot-pourri of commissions
Jun. 16th, 2010 12:02 amCatching up on a small collection of commission pieces I've picked up over the past few months but never got around to sharing...
Enjoy!!
These first ones are from Brian and Brendon Fraim, a pencilling and inking pair of brothers whose work I really like, there's a cleanliness to their lines which works for me in a Giordano-ish way.
This is instantly one of my favourite Cypher and Warlock pieces, as Warlock proves again that whilst he is more than happy to make body armour for Doug, he doesn't always have the best choice in templates!

The colours really pop on this one, no? And Doug's "Are you SURE about this one 'Lock?" expression is priceless
This next one is for my Dick and Kurt gallery, I'm not sure what Kurt is staring at in this pic, but they're having such a good time, let's not dwell on that (There will be a bit more than dwelling further down the page I assure you! :)

And finally from Les Freres Fraim, is an addition to my Boy Hostage gallery, with a twofer as Mr Freeze decides that his icehouse could do with a couple of new statues, and you have to admire his taste inarse art as Dick and Jason would probably work wonders for his feng shui (but it looks like someone might want to crash the party though, as no one messes with HIS kids on Bat-dad's watch)

These next one is from DougDraw a cartoonist with a wicked sense of humour (I did NOT commission this one, I found it on his site, honest!)

And this was an impulsive e-bay purchase from Joe St Pierre... highlighting Robin having another bad experience with Brother Blood's Confessor.

And these last two are by Kat Laurange, who decided to take my notion of "Nightwing and Nightcrawler as a swashbuckling team of heroes" rather more literally than most, and happily embracing the notion of a little slash-buckling in there too! :)
A little more bishōnen than most of my pieces tend towards, but they're just so PRETTY, I can't complain... Their matching little "Oh yeah, we're ALL that" smirks are adorable, in a way that wouldn't work for most other characters.

And this one was a complete surprise extra because Kat felt that she'd delayed my order too long. Frankly sweetie, if this is what I get for a trivial delay, I must get delayed more often. Slash sometimes works and sometimes doesn't, but boy howdy does this one work!

Dick - I didn't know your tail was strong enough to support your weight...
Kurt - That's not my tail...
Dick - You mean???
Kurt - Ja... that's prehensile too! (waggles eyebrows suggestively)
Ahem...
And for legality, a little reminder of what Mr Wagner could look like in the right artists hands... This was used as a pin up on the Back of Excalibur 3, y'know, back when being a fun character wasn't anathema or a good reason to kill them off (Though we'd already lost Doug by this point, so things were heading in a downward direction)

Date: 2010-06-16 09:54 am (UTC)These could almost be licensing art samples, or colouring book images.
Some (and I stress only some) of the Fraim images I've seen are a little... static, they're technically excellent but lack somthing of a sense of movement, I don't think that applies in any of mine, I'm happy to say.
