Frankly, I always figured Archie for a pushy bottom. But then, I figured Moose was too.


Why does Archie look like he has been doing more than swimming? Why is Mr Lodge's hair yellow? Why does the sky look unusually dim in the background? Why does Veronica not want to miss out on dryhumping the town statue of the mayor? It's your call.

Betty brings us a parable about sex.

"Gets all he can out of that orange?" Ew. Also, two things occur to me. One, Reggie is clearly a date-rapist of some kind. And yet, the kids still put up with him. And two, that orange is a dirty, dirty slut.
Also, please note, that in all these stories, sex is exclusively something men pressure women into doing. The idea of a woman being a sexual being herself is not permitted in these stories.
Given that this is also the story in which Betty makes a plea for loving and standing by your man, even defending him, no matter how badly he takes advantage of you or is in the wrong, that shouldn’t be too surprising.


So, the worst thing that happened to Veronica today is that someone tried to sell her pot? Yep, she’s a Republican.
Man, if she freaks out this badly over people smoking pot in high school, she’s going to have an aneurysm when she gets to college. Assuming, of course, that Mr. Lodge doesn’t marry her off to a nice Christian boy right after graduation.

Okay, it's obvious that Moose and Dilton have something going on on the side. (There's a good story in which Moose uses Dilton as a weight to do curls with.) I always figure Moose topped because, really, Dilton seems pretty fem and most of the fems I know bottom. But now I can totally see Moose as a bottom.


Naturally, the only reason Moose dates Midge is to keep Reggie from raping her, like he did to that random girl up there.

You know how they say that those who play villains got all their weird shit out of their system on screen, and were generally as utterly delightful, charming and profoundly decent human beings as you could hope to meet (Karloff, Cushing, Price, Delgado, Ainley etc)? It makes me wonder about some of the people who write all the sappy twee stuff, whether they were actually misanthropic monsters waiting to happen.

"Archie what's wrong?"

~Jughead wipes off the crumbs of Burger #345 and adjusts his crown~

~The man laughs and cleans a root beer mug~

~Veronica smiles gently and pushes Archie away~

"You know where he is...."

~Archie smiles and runs off~

~Veronica smiles at the slowly disappearing form of Archie and whispers...~

"Run to him...."

And now we're standing face to face
Isn't this world a crazy place

~Archie arrives at the burger shack ad Jughead starts to eat again. Jughead turns his head as Archie sits next to him~

"Hey"

"Hey...."

~Archie grabs a burger...their hands touch for a slight moment. A lightening quick moment arrives and leaves as Archie smiles and takes the sandwich~

"It don't matter Jugsy my friend."

I never said that. I simply stated how I hated the fact that they are only introducing a character like Kevin NOW. When they could have done it years ago.

Well, it only did become socially acceptable in the 70's, so it's more of a 30 year delay than anything else. Plus the Big Two only started introducing gay characters in the 80's.

Do those 69 years include the years when homosexuality was a forbidden topic with the Comics Code (until the early 90s I think)?

And (I'm not an expert) I was under the impression that with mainstream comics' progressive and positive depictions of gay characters really only started happening in the last decade or so.

After all, it was only in 2003 that Joe Quesada said that any comic with a gay character in it at Marvel would have a "Mature Readers" warning.

As in soaps, when you add a character to the cast, it's easier if they are potentially a romantic interest for members of the existing cast. Same problem apparently with the ethnic minorities, as they felt the need to add a datable opposite gender character with the same skintone/accent.
