Because I'm eviiiiiiil. Fan Art Thursdays.

Iroh rules.

Been listening to the TV show's soundtrack all morning. The orchestral pieces and the character themes are magnificent, and fun pieces like this just so subtle because they feel like they are "made on the spot" by this carefree nomads. Such a rich world to play in.

Ouch. The reviews for the movie are coming in and they an't pretty!

""The Last Airbender" is an agonizing experience in every category I can think of and others still waiting to be invented. The laws of chance suggest that something should have gone right. Not here. It puts a nail in the coffin of low-rent 3D, but it will need a lot more coffins than that." -Roger Ebert

Has M. Night made anything good since Unbreakable? Seriously, people should have stopped giving him director jobs after The Village.

*Wow. It's being roasted alive in Rotten Tomatoes. Only 5% of the reviews are good.

Hollywood is pretty forgiving..Just look how many flops Uwe Boll put out in theaters before they started going straight to video.

That also explains Michael Bay, but he also summoned up "As'quia-tral - Whose touch brings forth fireballs"

Yeah, but Bay's movies make money. I avoid them like the plaque, but lots of people see them. Just like lots watched the newest Twilight movies. Bleh. First one put me to sleep. :P

Pretty forgiving? Then why the heck can't we get a movie with a female heroine just because a couple of them (which sucked) flopped?

BROADS -AND DAMES- in action flicks, and youse mean the type who an't being rescued? Get out of town! :D Heh.

I honestly don't care. If the movie is good, I'll watch it. It I don't get into "Is there a women in the lead? Or someone who is left handed? Any midgets? Is there a duck in the leading role? If the movie is good, and the duck can act, I'll be in the movie theater with my Snowcaps.

Supposedly a lot of Boll's stuff has been funded by some sort of German film funding grant program.

Yes, it was some loop hole, which was closed recently. Still, that was only to make the movie. Getting them into theaters was another thing. I believe the last movie he tried to get into theaters was rejected by the theater owners as well. They just rejected his shipment of film. Guess they got tired of showing his films to empty theaters.

I doubt it's going to hurt the original show. Probably won't help it get new fans..Or maybe people who -ulp- pay to see the movie might want to see how it was supposed to be.

Ironically, I think it is helping the show out a little bit. I've seen numerous people this past week check out the show because they want to see what all the righteous indignation is about.

Same. A friend of mine just started watching it yesterday, and then found several reviews for the movie. She was Not Happy, to say the least. But it did encourage her to see more of the original cartoon. *shrugs*

I'm pretty sure the majority of the community is well aware of the original TV series, and how good it is.

(No, I'm not a fan, but I also don't hate it.)

I actually would not have tried to watch the cartoon if it wasn't for all the nerd rage about the movie. I LOVE me some nerd rage.

Personally, I hope this begins to kill the 3D movement.

I'm one of those people (estimated at 25-40% of people, depending which stat you read) who find 3D films frequently a headache-creating event, especially the blue/red type. I took my kids to see How To Train Your Dragon in 3D, simply because the local theatre offered it at the same price as the normal show, and honestly there were maybe 2 scenes in the whole movie that were any different ("better" is a relative term) with 3D.

Unless the movie/event is designed for it, as I understand Avatar was (not this one, the blue computer one which I still have yet to see) or the 3D nature shows IMax typically runs, 3D seems to be an afterthought. From several of the reviews, the only 3Dish scenes were in the credits of this movie!

Right, I'll go see 3d for films intended for 3d (Avatar, Tron) and computer-animated with 3d worked in from the start (HtTYD, Up, etc). The rest can swivel. Stupid add-on post production 3d is just an excuse to jack up the ticket price while adding nothing.

Nah, it will (Hopefully) kill off the "Half-Assed Tossed In The 3D at the last minute to catch on the fad" movement. And thankfully you can at least see the "2D' versions still.

And speaking of 3D..4D!

Until I can walk into the movie and watch it as a part of the crowd, movies can stay 2D for me. When I go to watch something on a screen, I wanna watch it on a screen. No amount of optical illusions is going to change that.

Let's form a club. I find NORMAL films potentially migraine-inducing and have to be very careful about when I go to see them, and possibly take painkillers immediately beforehand, so this whole 3D revolution thing is upsetting.

Agree. I think hollywood can calm down about 3D. 2D can work pretty well if the effect is good and the story keeps a good telling pace. And good pace is actually more important than effects. But sometimes the directors seem to forget about this. That's why I don't like Michael Bay on Transformer. I went to watch the first one as a TF big fan and never bothered to watch the second one, though they might have better effects. I don't mind new story in movie verse, but the pace is killing me.
The story of Avatar(the blue one) is a bit weak, but the whole movie keeps a good pace, which I think Cameron's good at. There's no unecessary scene in the movie, and the 3D enhance your experience on those key scenes. I had a good time with my dad in the cinema watching it:D

Avatar (the bad 3D one) has awful pacing, and seems just as much like it is cashing on 3D half the time, despite the cameras being "built for it", that's how impressive it's revolutionary 3D is.

Well, I didn't wish a scene to end sooner at that time, I didn't feel getting stuck or pushed while watching, when I was feeling excited in a battle scene I didn't get interrupted or surprised in a bad way when scene switched. I was feeling my emotion flowing fluently with the story, so I put it to my pace-fine catagory.
Yes, I talk it mostly from my own experience and maybe not very objective. So, was I missing something I should have considered or should I just change to a more proper expression? Or we just look at the same thing from an different way?
For the effect part, I actually have some complain about its background. It seems that they spent very little time building the background a bit more alien. I can recognized a lot of familiar plants. Some part of Pandora was like a cut-move-paste version of earth. It's unsatisfying for me.
Er, It seems that we're a bit digress...

I must admit, a tiny part of me feels sorry for him, because I heard that he made the movie because his child loved the cartoon and he wanted to make it into a movie for her.

But the much larger part of me thinks that it serves him right for being an idiot. The actor playing Aang had to be white because ZOMG HE TOTALLY COULDN'T FIND AN ASIAN ACTOR TO PLAY THE PART!!!111, but then the freaking stunt double is an Asian kid??? What an imbecile!

if he wanted his kid to see it so bad, he should've pulled some director moves and asked someone to do it. or however it works. the minute i heard it was all his idea, i wanted to RAGE.

the whitewashing didn't really help matters much either.

There isn't an official one, really, but if you look certain places, people have consolidated the tracks that The Track Team posted on their various sites just to have something to listen to until Viacom/Nickelodeon gets off its ass and gives us something concrete.
