Which is below the cut, but here's what creator Justin Pierce has to say about it:

"Some of you have contacted me over Wonder Woman's revamp. In reality, Double-Dubya goes through this once a decade or so, inevitably falling back on her iconic duds. She's even rocked the jacket/pants combo before. A 70-year-old character with an ever-changing creative staff begets these revamps. Also, in my opinion, DC doesn't really know what to do with Wonder Woman, but that's just my opinion."

Well, OK, true enough, but first of all, I would point out that while Carol's original outfit is no longer in use by HER, it HAS come back - it's being worn by the faux-MM now. Second, we have no actual proof at this point that Luke's plainclothes phase will be permanent - it's lasted for a while now, yes, but so did Spidey's black costume. Third, I'm not sure whether Songbird should count here, since she falls into a whole different category - that of villains who turn into heroes, which fairly often involves costume-and-name changes. Fourth, Wolvie actually started OUT in yellow-and-blue, so he's an example of my original point - he changed his costume, but it didn't stick.

I thought Luke was always plainclothes... just that what it entailed back when he first appeared was rather different than now.

...except maybe for the tiara.

Nope, it's a costume, all right. He made it out of bits and pieces he picked up in a costume shop - and it was considered a tad flamboyant even back then, but it WORKED.

Yeah, it worked – because super villains were blinded by the glaring afterimages from that neon yellow shirt against dark skin and couldn't see where to punch or shoot!

Arguably, though, that actually enhanced his badass rep. To paraphrase from 'Firefly': 'Man walks down the street wearing a costume like that, you know he's not afraid of anything'.
