Zhao has committed himself. In order to serve Azula and her search for spirit knowledge, Zhao has agreed to betray the North Water Tribe and take her to the spirits of the Moon and Ocean. His friend Arluk, walked into this conspiracy and has paid the price, and now Nauja, too, has walked into the lions den.

Those two guards looking for Arluk had a definite "stupid, stupid rat creatures!" vibe going on.

As for the other guards, when working for Azula it's likely best to strictly follow her orders to the exact letter at all times.

Despite the fact I was sure the "killed" person was not dead, and that Zhao was planning something, I'm still eagerly awaiting the next part and hopefully the payoff. Please don't make this "X-men Messiah" level long! =)

I look forward to taking my time reading the next part, as when I reached this point reading it on DeviantArt I was blazing through so frantically to find out what happens that I may have missed a detail or two. It was that gripping.

seriously, non-epic background characters need so much more love, they often have such a great perspective of the real depth of oddness in the settings they inhabit.

Like the (incredibly few) times that Tolkien has conversations between orcs, I love that stuff.

(also, THE 21?!? TWO TON TWENTY ONE?!? the guy is like henchman 1 now but he just WONT CHANGE HIS NUMBER.)

EEEEE!! at the edge of my seat! Dear god, I love this. :D and fuck, I love Nauja. SHE IS BADASS, even without being a trained waterbender. This is how you do nonpowered characters! *really wants her to get together with Zhao...* lol, I loved Zhao's "STOP PICKING UP WEAPONS!" XD fave scene of all.
