Boston (and the White Ring) have been in the only "bright" spots for me in the otherwise depressing so-called Brightest Day. Too bad I'm 99% sure he'll end this series as "Deadman" again. That's his schtick.

I'm also sure we're get some resurrections eventually. Awhile back in one of those interviews with Newsarama or CBR Peter Tomasi was a bit too cagey when the interviewer asked him straight out if there were going to be resurrections in BD. He pretended to not hear the question.

Which is kind of neat and they should pursue this. I feel like the White Lanterns should be like hippies.

There are other cheeseburgers than just fast food, you know - lots and lots of others. I remember a fortnight-long family road trip where we kept stopping at diners and the like for meals, and I ate almost nothing BUT cheeseburgers, and never got tired of them, because each and every one of 'em was different somehow, and most of them were delicious. Cheeseburgers are legion throughout most of the North American continent - it makes sense that the ring would suggest eating one.

It should be 'eat some tofu', then, or 'stop by the co-op for some veggies and gluten-free bread'. Or 'go find a nice, vacant piece of ground, in harmony with Mother Earth, raise tender, young tomato plants and stalks of wheat from the soil and harvest them, make bread and buns with the wheat, slice the tomatoes, contact a local farmer for ground beef and cheese from humanely-raised cattle, make mayo from scratch, dance and sing around the final end result - THEN eat a cheeseburger'.

I'm thinking of the kind of hippies and ex-hippies (including my parents, pretty much) that live in my area of Northern California - so, yeah, not just in Oregon. (For that matter, I've eaten burgers in my time that were basically made using the process I just described - they were gooooood.)
I believe what you are thinking of is more like 'Surfer/Stoner/Slacker Types' than hippies. The 'duuuuuuuuude' sorts of people. THOSE are freaks, and, mostly, idiots - most of the hippies I know are pretty well-adjusted people.
