OK?...so this part stuck out about the YJ cartoon: In a twist, the creators have decided to name Black Manta as Aqualad's father!
Considering how close Johns has been working with the YJ team, and considering he's said new Aqualad was almost the first thing he came up with when DCE was formed with Diane Nelson at the head, can we thus deduce the Young Justice cartoon people have revealed a (albeit already wildly theorized) spoiler for Brightest Day?
As for the cartoon itself I notice Diana is clearly shown so whatever "rights" issues the B&B folk had with her doesn't seem to have been a problem for Young Justice. Does this clear the way for Wonder Girl to appear?

...
...everyone EXCEPT Wonder Woman!
You want to know what Wonder Woman's status is on the DC boards? Well, there it is in that video folks. She's on the freaking board but the producers just elected to ignore her while they name everyone else who isn't a female, which is everyone but her. Oh, and Batman is the overall general who gives the orders? I'm shocked. Why don't you just have Batman give each JL and YJ member an instant death collar if they don't obey his every command? Or why don't we just call this stupid series BATMAN and the sex starved teenagers of Young Justice?
This series is going to suck. It does absolutely nothing new, focuses too much on the male demographic by ensuring that the males outnumber the females and that the males are the ones who are in charge. Oh look, even the legality cover features none of the female characters, and proclaims "The boys bust in!" I'm so sick and tired of this sausage fest bullsh**.

Date: 2010-07-24 03:06 am (UTC)Why no Wonder Girl in the Young Justice cartoon? Johns: "Because of the story they want to tell with Artemis. We do have plans for Arrowette and Wonder Girl in the future."
So...that sounds like "Artemis" actually is supposed to be some version of Artemis of the Bana-Mighdall.

Date: 2010-07-24 04:03 am (UTC)On the negative side, I'm really not sure why they decided to go with Dick and Wally as Robin and Kid Flash when the other members of the team are contemporaries of Tim and Bart; I'm especially baffled as to why they went with what looks like Tim's costume if they were planning on making Dick Robin. Wouldn't they go with the traditional green, red, and yellow (with optional black) with Dick? Even if the concern was that it would resemble the Teen Titans Go!Robin's costume too much, they could have easily just done a different design for the costume but kept Dick's colors. It just seems weird, since I imagine that both comic fans and people who might have watched the older DCAU cartoons would automatically associate red and black with Tim. Hmmmm...
Also odd...if there's no legal issues preventing Wonder characters from showing up on the show...why not have Wonder Girl be a part of the line-up? Are they just saving her for later on? Is a member of YJ going to be one of the people who Weissman and Vietti said won't make it out, leaving Cassie (or, given the Dick and Wally thing, maybe Donna) a place to step in? Curious.
On the positive side, I really, really love the art for the series. It's so very pretty. I'm also liking the costume designs, especially Miss Martian's dark costume (the one she's wearing when she turns invisible). I also like that, judging from the designs, it almost looks like YJ is from the same universe as the Crisis on Two Earths movie. That just seems kind of neat to me.

Date: 2010-07-24 03:41 pm (UTC)I get that later on whatever they can introduce Bart and Tim, but I mean come on. It wasn't like they were founding members of young justice in the first place [/sarcasm] And I really do hope they eventually bring them in I'm just disappointed that they didn't start out with them. And I hope they do bring in Cassie and Cissie too, I don't see why they didn't have Cissie to start off with and put Artemis in there it's just weird to me because I mean... I don't know whatever I hope at least she's like the Artemis in the comics because I love her.
I'm disappointed but I'll deal with it I guess I'll wait till I see the show.

Date: 2010-07-24 10:30 pm (UTC)And I disagree with them having to be the new guys. Part of young justice appeal, was that they had to prove themselves to be just as good as the Teen Titans before them. They were like the younger sibling having big shoes to fill and trying to get out from under their shining older sibling's shadow and be their own person.
Part of Tims struggle was that he wasn't as cool or as social as Dick Grayson who everyone compared him to. In the end, Tim doesn't become the leader of young justice, but he's okay with it and I always admired him from not trying to be exactly like his "older brother" and letting someone else lead.
