Amazing Spider-Man Presents: American Son #3

This is from Amazing Spider-Man Presents: American Son #3 by Brian Reed and Philippe Briones.

Things get a little confusing, as it's revealed that Gabriel is the American Son, and that he has multiple personality dissociative identity disorder.

American Son tries to "rescue" Norah Winters, taking her to his lair. Then Gabriel resurfaces and ties her up, angry at her for the article she wrote about him.

American Son tells Gabriel that his alert system has notified the authorities of their whereabouts.

Spider-Man punches Gabriel, knocking the American Son helmet off his head and breaking. Gabriel says that this has killed American Son.

Is it just me or is this the exact same deal that Mr. Negative had?

Hey kids, comics close-ups of guys with shards of glass penetrating their faces!

I know there've been a lot of those in comics, but I only mention it because Negative was introduced recently, and in the same book.

Looks like I was wrong again and they've didn't bring back Gabriel Stacy to retcon Sins Past. Someone just thought, "You know who was a great character that everyone would love to see again? Gabriel Stacy."

To be fair, this does seem like a decent story, and it's not as though "Norman Osborn has a neglected son that tries to get his father's approval and goes insane" is a story that could be told without him, or has ever been done before, right?

Someone just thought, "You know who was a great character that everyone would love to see again? Gabriel Stacy."

And that same person was clearly on something to be thinking that.

Well, I guess the thinking here was that they could tie up a loose-end, story-wise, and put a reversal on the goblin idea.

It's just too bad that no one really wanted to be reminded of the whole 'Sins Past' train wreck and instead wished that Gabriel Stacy would have gone the way of Power Girl's baby.

i hate poorly done (i.e., nearly all) fictional portrayals of DID.

Has there been a Osborn that wasn't more nutty than Ren and Stimpy?

Oh, the Venom arc would make a great OPM, wouldn't it? ... Except I have no idea how to condense it.

Sins Past is one of those stories that just needs to die already.
