One Perfect Moment: Jim & Babs Gordon

Continuing my "Proud Bat-Parents" theme...
(Detective Comics #533, 1982. 3 1/2 pages from a 16-page story.)

Commissioner James Gordon is in a coma after suffering a severe heart attack...





Meanwhile, a group of thugs with a grudge against the Commish decide that this would be an excellent opportunity to get their revenge. Batman fights them off, but even he can't be everywhere at once...



(This storyline has some great Harvey Bullock moments in it too...maybe in another post...)

Terrific - and great to see some of Gene Colan's fantastic run on Batman. (Also, nice to see a Batman that's not omnipotent...)

Terrific scene, and that art is beautiful.

Sigh, so much good stuff remains uncollected (AFAIK), Gene's run on Batman/Detective is one of the most criminal absences (along with Don Newton's)
