Yes, he's been a director for quite some time. He also directed, amongst others, the Ben 10 live action TVM's.

That'd be your loss then. From a directing resume POV they were successful, on budget, on time, and a major franchise whose translation to live action could have been catastrophically bad for the line, and they trusted him enough to get him to do the second one.

Whether they were any good is another, and secondary, matter.

I'm getting a real bad "secret identity" vibe from this test footage, which is NOT a good thing given Jaime told his family all about the Scarab more or less the first chance he got.

Come on Warner Brothers, the blueprints for a refreshing break of convention that DOESN'T creatively bankrupt the story is literally staring you in the face, don't fuck it up because some douche in marketing thinks he knows what twelve year olds like.

Yeah, that ending is the opposite of cool. It is test footage though, so there's an open question if it'll stay like this in the final.

Yeah, there is going to be some major outcry if Jaime keeps the fact that he's the Blue Beetle from his family. That he trusts them enough to tell them immediately is refreshing, and something that makes him stand out amidst all the regular "ohnoez gotta hide that secret identity they almost found out!!!" superheros.

Well, it looks better in motion than in stills, so that's good. And as test footage, it'll get tweaked again, anyway, so it should be better than passable by the time an actual show is made.

Seriously I am looking forward for this show. Till Power Rangers come back, the State got nthing for costume superhero shows that are over the top. In England, they got Doctor Who, and in Japan they have...... do I really need to list them? While the States we had Charmed and Adventures of Lois and Clark (or at least what i watched). Smallive, I would included, but it has become such a drama show lately...

Well, the doctor always had an outfit, like wearing a piece of celery. I was using it a reference for shows that have the main characters performing on their own.

If nothing else, it'll be an awesome Latino hero on TV, and there's too few of those.

Off the top of my head, I can think of Erik Estrada on CHiPs, Jimmy Smits on L.A. Law, and Benjamin Bratt (am I remembering that right?) on Law & Order. All of them official hunky guys on top-rated TV shows, averaging out to about one every ten years.

Of course, I'm only counting specifically Latino-identified characters. Martin Sheen as Josiah Bartlet doesn't count, brilliant as he was. That metric may not be universal.

Doesn't look too bad. I hope they DON'T make him an apartment-dweller as shown here - I like him living in the suburbs - and he's a bit older than he should be, as is Milagro, and that CGI looks a bit too... CGI-ish, but then again, this IS test footage, so probably a lot will be changed. I like, as others have mentioned, that he's still Jaime - hopefully, the fact that Didio likes the character will keep him relatively free of editorial messing-around-with. (I also hope that they don't do the whole 'easier to put on to take off' thing that they're doing here, 'cause frankly, that makes no sense. Why would it be less painful for an alien metal bug to materialize OUT of your flesh and clothe you in armor than for it to be sucked back IN?)

Well, he's seen zooming over an urban cityscape, and from what little we see of the view out his window, he appears to be a couple stories up. Also, his room just reads more 'housing project' than 'suburbian' to me. I could be wrong, but...

Hm... the scarab itself looks a bit big, the transformation was a bit melodramatically long, but the armor itself was terrific. Actor could use a haircut. Love that the family bit is there.

eeek! Milagros needs to be a little girl and Jaime needs to not live in an apartment! Also...does that look like El Paso at night? I can't tell...it looks like some city near the sea...O_o;

Aside from that...eeee!! Jaime! Its a latino! A real Latino! That is so RARE...and in today's American society, I'm a little scared it might affect it negatively...

This... looks quite promising. They definitely need to make sure to not change it to Jaime's identity being secret from his family for any extended period of time (although I could understand if he didn't want them to know specifically about him doing his superhero thing at stupid-o'clock on a school day, admittedly) and should have Milagro be a closer age to comics. Still, I'm hoping this will be as awesome as it can be (and that it's either one of the shows that is available on the station website with standard commercials to defray costs or shows on a public-access station; otherwise, I may have to spring for cable when I move into my apartment for grad school for little reason but to see this).
