benicio127: (Jason being badass)

Red Hood Lost Days #3

This and seeing Wade/Outlaw in Deadpool #1000 made me So. So. Happy.

So Jason is training under a martial arts expert who he later finds is trafficking 10-year-old kids in a sex trade.

He kills the man by poisoning his energy drink and brings the kids to the British Embassy. Meanwhile, Talia is stalling him from his mission against Bruce. He sits down and talks with her afterwards.

I can't say I disagree with him.

[personal profile] hybrid2 2010-08-05 03:17 (UTC)(link)
I agree.

It's a shame he was turn from a vigilanty into a full villain...
Why did that writer, whose name escape me, wanted to do that?

Tony Daniel, and he needed somebody to be the badguy in Battle For the Cowl.

*<3's this issue so much*

*kind of wishes you'd scanned the "your accent gets thicker when you're pissed. It's cute" and "that's why I poisoned your energy drink" pages, because they were awesome.*

The 4-page limit on recent comics is a per-poster thing. Per-issue limits are still 1/3, but the poster limit is there mostly so one person doesn't have a monopoly on discussion of the issue if someone else wants to post other parts.

It applied to you last time because you'd posted two from the preview in another post, but I don't think there was a preview this month, was there?

After reading this and the issue before. I getting depress with jason current status. :(

I'm neglecting his current status and buring myself in fanfics.

Like I said over Twitter, it's very possible that The Mission is more personal to Jason than either of the other Robins, except perhaps Steph. Crime isn't something that snuck into his life for a moment and let him draw some major contrast of "before" and "after" he joined up. He never got a "before". He grew up with crime. He played witness to the culture surrounding and supporting it throughout his life.

And all of that is what led him to becoming Robin, and everything that's happened to him throughout his life, everything he's been witness and victim to, DYING included, that's going to shape the way he addresses the problem.

His primary goal is still protecting the innocent, not taking down criminals. The latter is simply his method of achieving the former. But he's never turned his back on the mission. He can't, it isn't in him. I think it says a lot that it wasn't until he knew about the kids that he did anything to Egon, even knowing the guy was an assassin and prolly more besides.

And editorial wants us to think he's a villain. Urgh. See, yeah, I get that his methods are questionable, and his role as an antagonist is pretty firmly set in the Batkids, but an antagonist doesn't have to be a villain! He makes a good foil for his fellow Batkids because he operates in a greyer area, where he's certainly not always in the right, but he's not entirely wrong, either.

And I want to see him interact wit Steph so bad. Even Robins got stuff to talk about. And not to mention Babs either! Jeez, the Batboys may not be down with you Jay, but you and the Batgirls could prolly find a lot of common ground.

[identity profile] minyandu.livejournal.com 2010-08-05 11:29 (UTC)(link)
Now I can imagine Steph says similar things, Batboys want to argue, and all the Batgirls (including Helena) give them fierce glares.

I have to say this. It's really good to see the artist draw him a teenager. I've seen him too many times look older than Dick.

GOOD ART!!!

Oh yeah, forgot to mention that part. I've become rather fond of Jeremy Haun through his work on the Manhunter back-up and his two issues of 'Tec. Was pretty excited when I saw his name on this one (though a little sad, the artist on the past two issues was good, too)

Good art, and I'm still liking the story. Can't say I disagree with Jason here, and imo, this Jason makes sense for Jason.

I could say more, but kingrockwell pretty much said it all.

Have Jason and Damien ever interacted at length? I'd like to know Damien's take on someone who was an adopted son to both his father and mother.

In Revenge of the Red Hood, Damian dismissed him as not that impressive, as Damian does. Though Jason did shoot him in BftC, even that was horrendously ooc.

I'm liking Jason more and more.

I don't disagree with him.

He needs to stay an active character.

DC needs a good Frank Castle style character. I don't think they've pulled that off before.
