Can I just say how awesome the art and the costumes in this series are? I really love Larry's green turtle-neck sweater.

The sweater is fine, but unless he's river-fishing and those really are waders, his trousers are reprehensible.

Wet bandages do not justify those monstrosities.

Yes, but then how does the wang protect itself from the world?

Ugh. Maybe this is old-fogeyism, but Larry's 13-year-old maturity level is really starting to grate on me. I miss Rebis.

Also, more Jane plz. Cliff/Jane OTP.

Yeah, it always did seem like Rita's powers weren't quite freaky/traumatic enough to make her fit in with the Doom Patrol.

This'll do it I guess.

why is robotman angry?

does he mean yes she is still rita you idiot, or that is NOT rita!

The former. He believes she's Rita, and Rita believes she's Rita, the last thing she needs is someone doubting who she is.

That question, coming from a guy who is on his thirth bodie should make robotman agree.
who also keep changing bodies and even brains,I think.

funny how i know all this just from this site and wiki.

Actually, it's fairly consistent for Cliff. Even through Morrison's run, he insisted on calling Rebis "Larry," even though Rebis insisted he wasn't Larry anymore and asked repeatedly not to be called that. Kind of rude on Cliff's part, in retrospect.

That cover isn't helped by the fact that it looks like Crazy Jane, and the fact she apparently has multiple identities only reminds me of that rather than the fact Rita was an actress

BTAS Clayface was a shapshifting actor though, so the comparison works better.

(In the comics, Clayface 1 was an actor, but had no powers, Clayface 2 and 4 had the shapeshifting powers, but weren't actors)

So she was born from the Chief's nano-pool that the Candlemaker used to create HIS body back at the end of Morrison's run? Wow, when Giffen meant "Everything is continuity", he really meant it.

Though in hindsight, this was actually foreshadowed pretty good; she had something explode in her hand and later it was fine, even before she got her head vertically sliced.

Also, yeah, the cover made me think "Crazy Jane" before Rita too...

Carlo's got shapeshifting powers now, too - not sure when that happened. Payne's got the same powerset as the rest of the Clayfaces, too, as of Cry For Justice. It's to the point that I'm not sure if most of the writers realise there's something like 5 Clayfaces at large.

Yeah, from what I remember, Karlo was pissed that he was the only Clayface without any kind of power, so he gathered together the members of the Mud Pack and duplicated their powers into himself, making him the best one out of them all.

And people say that Silver Age Batman was weird...

The Mud Pack story was the one that gave him powers, but it didn't give him mimicking powers, it made him an acidic, protoplasmic being who could alter his shape, but not with enough control to take on new appearances or the like.

Or Plastic Girl, if you prefer, because she sounds just like what he's thought of as now.(I'm assuming complete with the immortality)

Don't tell him or she'll never get rid of his red ass.

More like a Colossal Boy and Shrinking Violet combo with a little Elongated Man thrown in. IIRC it was Madame Rouge who was more akin to Elongated Man.

Hm, considering he's apparently going to give himself Kryptonian powers in an issue or two, I think that robot zombie General Lane or Lex Luthor will attempt it out of jealousy.

They've tried. A few times. The man is like a cockroach.

He was beheaded in Morrison's run (during the 'extreme bout with reality' that Rita references in these scans). It just made him weirder. (A disembodied head with an addiction to chocolate milkshakes....) Spent all of Pollack's run that way. Then he died. Again. Then he wasn't dead again.

I find it weird that combining him with Cable back in the Amalgam comics days actually made him less of a douche. Maybe they could see into the future and knew that Cable was going to get better and Niles was going to get worse.
