You all knew I was gonna post about him, right? I think it's hardly a secret who my favorite male comic book character is.

Also, it's been bugging me for a while, what vibe I was getting from Victor's relationship with Santo, but I finally figured it out.

When a Jerkass Loves a Tsundere.

...well, better Santo than Greymalkin, anyway.

Personally I'd prefer a baseline to either of them.

Motto, except for the fact that I'd expect him to be killed off for the sake of angst in short order. The X-Kids themselves are only just starting to be treated like something other than cannon fodder, so I'd expect the lifespan of someone playing a supporting character to the X-Kids to be measured in nanoseconds.

The New X-men are something other than cannon fodder? Damn I guess no one told Onyxx.

Too true about their supporting characters being killed off for shock value, Luna and the Grindstone coffee shop were blown up in New X-Men.

There are a lot of mutants on Utopia though. There have to be more guys who are interested in other guys than just Northstar, Anole and Greymalkin. Maybe a background character who hasn't gotten a lot of development in recent years, or ever.

Or Julian. But I'm kind of hoping the kids will be a little safer what with Carey handling their storylines these days and Kyle and Yost going off to Hollywood (and good riddance).

I think with another D-list mutant, you'd have the same problem you would with a baseline -- killed off to give someone who's slightly higher profile more weepy-time (see Diamond Lil, Marrina, etc.).

Carey is great but he's only focusing on a few at a time, not the kids as a group. And it's so slow going. He's working with the background students first and I'm worried that the direction of the book will be changed into a team book before he can start writing the kids I'm really interested in.

You didn't notice that Yost is writing X-men: To Serve and Protect #1 in November did you? No word on if it's a one-shot, mini or ongoing. But he's already back.

Too true. Poor Lil.

DAMMIT!

Here's hoping it was a one-shot that was stuffed in a drawer somewhere...

Looks like it's an anthology book in the same vein as Manifest Destiny: one serialized story that runs through four books, sharing space with three or four one-shots per issue.
