30 Days of Scans Meme Day 6: Powers I would like to steal

Well, I could always go cheap and pull a Quiz. Every power that noone has thought of!

But I have a simple one. I guess it's a bit sappy, now that I think about it.



A healing factor. Regeneration.



Mind you, I wouldn't want his variation.



I mean, who out there wouldn't want to actually be healthy all the time? So more suffering the consequences of falling on your face nearly ten years ago. No more constant allergies and back pain.

I was a bit surprised nobody else brought it up, but I suppose it's less fantastic than what most people would first think of. I wouldn't necessarily want to do anything with it. Just having it would be enough.

The Quiz would drive me nuts, because since I was a kid I've been thinking of abilities and powers for fun, for fanfics and the like. It would be insanely frustrating to lose every power as soon as I'd thought of it, never mind what anyone else might be thinking of.

Self-healing wouldn't really interest me because I haven't been ill enough to warrant it since I was a kid. Give me another 20 years I'd probably want it, but have to say Elixir's powers would interest me more as I could at least help other people too.

But the Quiz has to think of powers to get them, so I assume she's exempt from that. And it seems you have to think in context. She can have flight, but the second you think or say "Flight", it's over.

The Quiz would be impossibly lethal if she was more creative. Think specific ways to fly. Think powers so subtle that the enemy might not know what you're doing.

And... well, I'm 23, but I'm one of those people who seems to be Never Well Ever.

Well, sort of. The thing about the Quiz is that she already HAS the powers, she starts any confrontation with "every power you've never thought of". She doesn't need to think of them, just use them, if you see what I mean. She already IS impossibly lethal but her mental condition keeps her distracted one feels.

They never did say whether she loses the powers for good, or only for that particular confrontation, but then, she was never planned as a long term character.

The Quiz isn't as powerful you can think; you just need to be clever with what powers you take away from her.

For example, if The Quiz no longer has the power to exist, she's not much of a threat.

Unless René Descartes was a mutant, "existing" isn't, in and of itself, a superpower! :)

And it's a question of cleverness and speed. You can take away flight and strength and speed but there are powers which would compensate for those broad terms. The ability to manipulate gravitational attraction, the ability to render heavy objects light and fragile and time freezing for example. Plus the chances of you think of the power that will be the exact one that stops you is unlikely because she thinks very abstractly.

Rebis was doing quite well in cutting her powers down when they fought, but forgot "The power to make escape proof spirit traps" so had the negative being trapped within moments.

Hey, I don't make the rules, I just abuse them. I figure that most human beings have a certain amount of baseline powers. :P

If you dislike that, I could simply remove the power to have every power I've never thought of. Or the power to be able to control any power I've never thought of. I'm sure if I try hard enough, one of my attempts to abuse Russell's paradox will shut her down.

Unfortunately, healing factors attract dangerous situations where you suffer grevious bodily harm on a regular basis. I think it is a secondary power.

Some higher power will make sure you get your mileage out of that ability.

The problem with Wolverine (and mayvbe Deadpool) is that regeneration is REALLY PAINFUL.

I'd rather have somekind of 'perfect invulnerability' or something.

Agreed, I would much rather take the Luke Cage route.

I'd hate being invulnerable.

Hey, guys, I'm invulnerable. I already have a bad back and constant seasonal allergies. If I need surgery (which Cage has had before), I am screwed.

Just sayin, if somebody's going to randomly bless me with a superpower right now, healing all the way.

You could be invulnerable with an unlikely weakness. Like, say, knives and bullets wouldn't phase you, steel girders would only slow you down - but a sharp piece of plastic could be your undoing. That way, you could still have surgery, you'd just need to find a doctor with a plastic scalpel and a willingness to keep his mouth shut.

I dunno. Healing factor seems to go hand in hand with extreme longevity. I imagine by the time you'd seen your children and grandchildren grow old and die, along with all your friends and immediate family, not to mention everyone around you getting more than a little weirded out by how not old you seemed to be getting, you'd start to see a few downsides to the whole thing.
