Picked up a bunch of comics from the $1 bin today, and there's a scene from Outsiders 31 I want to post just as soon as I get my scanner de-bugged. But first, a single panel. Wanna know what would be an even worse addition to Donna's starfield bodysuit than changing the halter to a skinny, down-to-there tank top?





Chaps-like cutouts at the hips.

I do not get it, folks. She doesn't have the cutouts on the cover. She doesn't have the cutouts in the opening scene, when she whisks off the Outsiders' heavy hitters to outer space to fight some kind of cosmic maelstrom. She only gets them when we come back to the space team en route. It's not a one-panel art error, either; she has the cutouts in all panels where her lower torso is visible in the scene.

Maybe it makes her more aerodynamic in a vacuum?

....yeah. I got nothin'.

She left candy bars in the pockets of her pants, they melted when she got too close to the sun so instead of having to clean them out, she said "Fuck it" and tore them off the pants.

Given the placement of her hands, it almost looks like she's pulling her pants down but they're getting stuck in the middle at her belt.

She's right around Starfire, and she hasn't had a proper reunion with her since being revived from the dead. Of COURSE she'd be pulling down her pants ... she's just spacing out and forgetting that others are in the room.

I have this theory that the costume she's wearing isn't made of cloth or anything, but some material that changes all the time - perhaps in response to her thoughts? Dunno. But it explains why the amount of cleavage on display varies from panel to panel at times.

Maybe it's actually all held together with really tiny zips (so there are no visible seams) but they're actually not very good so they keep coming undone. The other Titans should tell her, but they think it's funny.

Well, that's a rather ugly costume idea. It doesn't even make sense. I mean, it would be dumb but somewhat understandable to have clearly separate top and bottom parts of a costume which have a bottom that exposes part of the hip, but not to make cutouts like that into what appears to be a leotard. It would make more sense to have those spots instead be of cloth which is of the same kind as the rest of the outfit but a different color, making them white like her boots and belt. Or at least put a black mesh in the cutouts (and part of the v-neck when it extends any further than in this panel, to keep her shirt together and avoid a wardrobe malfunction).

Also, is it just me or does the anatomy appear to be wonky in a non-typical way here? Donna's head appears to be too small for her body. Also, I think her hips are drawn the same as the men's (though that one may be an optical illusion due to the patterning of her costume). I mean, there's nothing wrong with a female character with narrow hips, but it's atypical for Donna; it's like giving her a costume with no visible cleavage.
