I was really waffling between Cass Cain, Steph Brown and Bart Allen on this one...

Soooooo



First, Steph Brown, who took on the Robin title and the Batgirl title.







And Cassandra Cain, who got Babs' OK to take on the Batgirl title.



I wish Cass and Steph could share the Batgirl role. :'(


And the awesomely hilarious Bart Allen who is now a Flash!

with the Spider-Man examples only two characters (Ben Reilly and Mayday Parker) I can think of fit the definition because most have no actual connection to Peter Parker.

I think Steve Rogers edges Pym out for number of successors, but most of the people just don't live up to the title, lasting for only a couple of outings or worse dishonoring the title.

Wiki lists 9 people who have taken the title Captain America other than Steve Rogers:
1) Isaiah Bradley (didn't meet Steve until well afterwards)
2) William Nasland, 3) Jeffrey Mace: took over for the rest of WWII after Steve fell and for a period afterwards, Nasland dies saving JFK in 1946 and Mace retires in 1949.
4) William Burnside: 50's fascist Cap, doesn't really count.
5) Bob Russo, 6) "Scar" Turpin, 7) Roscoe: people who took the title for single outings during Steve's 70's Nomad period, don't really count.
8) John Walker
9) Sam Wilson (briefly)
10) Clint Barton (briefly)
11) James Buchanan Barnes

people took over the title Nomad:
11) Jack Monroe
12) Rikki Barnes

still more, like Eli Bradley, are successors in spirit but hold titles that are not direct legacies to any title Steve has held.
