Hellboy: The Storm #3
Sep. 1st, 2010 06:03 pmAnd the stakes keep getting raised for Big Red. When last we left Hellboy, an army of undead knights had gathered around the cottage he was in. Things go from bad to muuuch worse behind the cut.
The army turns out to be HIS army, the army of noble dead that arise when Excalibur is pulled and wielded by a true heir to the throne. This heir being Hellboy, from his mother's side.
Hellboy doesn't take the burden on his shoulders well.

And after much debate, he decides to walk away and leave the Sword and the army behind. He doesn't want to lead the army to Armageddon.

More characters from Hellboy's past come along his path once more, and Gruagach asks for his mercy for what his anger has let loose on the world. He has hanged himself in an attempt to die, but cannot, as his curse by Merlyn is still strong. He pleads for Hellboy to kill him, and Hellboy attempts to ease his pain with bullets, which have no effect.
As he leaves Gruagach, another seeks to have Hellboy call the only force capable of cutting down Nimue's aligned forces of the supernatural resurrected... but even with such temptation to reach the armies of Queen of Blood to her red tower and get close enough to slay her, Hellboy says no.

By denying the helping hand of the Arch Duke of Hell, he is confronted by one more face from his past.
The one who set upon Hellboy the Queen of Blood in the first place.
Baba Yaga.
Who will help him for a price.

The board is set, the players have taken their places, and the end game begins.
Almost....
One last foe of Hellboy still needs to show their faces, and it turns out the Queen of Blood has her own issues of her own...

Big issues.
