30 Days of Scans Day 25: Favorite “other media” (movie, cartoon, etc)

Just about everyone's choosing the Timmverse/DCAU, which is hardly surprising given it's seriously high quality stuff. So I guess it falls to me to broaden everyone's horizons.

So my choice?



Wakfu: The Animated Series

A spinoff from a French MMORPG (the sequel to the popular Dofus) currently in development, the series which runs on the France 3 station, basically follows the adventures of a young boy with the ability to create portals for various purposes and a destiny somehow intertwined with dragons and time mages. He's accompanied by a rather motley, but heroic and often hilarious group on his quest, all animated superbly.

And it wouldn't be scans_daily without a scan, so here's one for legality, from Dofus magazine. Featuring, near as I can tell, a Sram (assassin), Iop (warrior) and I'm not sure what the girl is, possibly an Eniripsa (healer, read it backwards).

This looks really nice, hopefully the series gets translated at some point. English dvd box would fit nicely in my movie/series pile.

I'd totally buy the crap out of an English dvd box. There's fansubs out there, but I would love a chance to support the series, and encourage more good French animation.

I just watched a few episodes recently and found myself torn...on the one hand, LOVE the animation and the fight scene in the first episode was great. On the other hand...ugh, the characters are so cliche and shallow. I got about two or three eps in and gave up. If that fucking knight/paladin/whatever he is with the cursed sword hadn't shown up, I think I could have handled it cause it seemed like there was some neat stuff going on but he annoys the piss out of me. Even his character design is shit compared to the other character. >:|
