Date: 2010-09-12 10:45 pm (UTC)Again, I like the entire thing, the ending holes didn't really break the comic for me, I've seen and read enough mysteries with twist endings that suck to not let them ruin the otherwise good start and middle.

Date: 2010-09-12 10:55 pm (UTC)Seeing how writers like Greg Rucka are able to portray 'rape' in a story without making it a gimmick or anything makes me feel as though Meltzer didn't have the chops to write what was handed to him.
I don't blame you if you like the story since my problems lie with the story itself and those who choose to publish it and I think even the worst stories out there at least have some good bits here and there.

Date: 2010-09-12 11:08 pm (UTC)I realize that twist endings can suck ass. They can suck a lot of ass. I mean, The Village and other movies with twists can easily be either seen from a mile away or make no god damn sense. I can separate the ending though. I can enjoy the ride and realize that while the ending sucked, what led up to it may have been very good.
Identity Crisis does have an ass pull bullshit ending in many ways. It pulls a "Who Shot Mr. Burns" by having a killer who no one suspected because it was nonsensical. Yet the way the ending was done was still well done to me even if it made no sense.
