Yeah, I can imagine it WOULD be a bit difficult being the Dark Knight when it's not... dark. Batman can be scary anywhere, but the shadows do help a great deal. (Hell, for that matter, I wouldn't want to live in a place that's THAT well-lit. How the hell does anyone get to sleep at night? Do they draw the curtains, or what?)

Does anyone not draw the curtains when they go to sleep? I mean, even in normal cities, there are street lights and stuff.

Speaking personally, I don't live in a city, but I've spent time in plenty of them, and I don't recall ever having to draw the curtains. I think it only matters if you're directly on street-level.

I guess. Although street lights can be bright enough that I imagine even people living in 10th or 15th story apartments would want to draw their curtains, people living higher than that probably don't.

Also, I just noticed that there's a dark alley RIGHT THERE in the third panel of the second scan, so Batman deliberately chose a well-lit one to not-skulk through and complain about.

Could be it's the first real dark alley for blocks and blocks, and he misses it because he's talking to Supes.
