It didn't start out bad.

The West Coast Avengers first miniseries, issues #1 through #4*, only the panels with Tigra.

Roger Stern wrote this, Bob Hall pencilled it, Brett Breeding inked it, Mark Gruenwald was the editor and Jim Shooter was the Editor in Chief.

Right, I'd forgotten about the X-books. Still, the various X-teams may be prominent in terms of reader popularity, but in-universe, I'm not sure they qualify. I mean, for most of their existence, the outside world has largely considered them to be mutant terrorists, right? That may have changed a bit in recent days - although don't quote me on that; I haven't been following the books - but they're still not exactly what I'd call 'prominent'. By that, I mean more like the Avengers, the JLA or JSA - THAT sort of prominent. The lead-the-charge, we-can-relax-now-help-is-here, wave-the-flag-and-salute sort of prominent. The kind with the great publicity that get asked to sign autographs. I can't recall any Native Americans in those - unless, like I said, you count Manitou Raven, and I'm not sure I do.
