Just saw the preview for the newest issue of JSA, and... well... I think their needs to be some explanation....



The story takes place on the moon, where Scott built that city (didn't he help build the a watchtower on the moon? Remember that? Where the JLA's base on the moon? Seems like decades since then.) and... SOMEHOW it become populated by magically creatures...







Okay, I haven't read the last issue, where the JSA had to fight some ancient Mayan Gods of whatever. But I am bit confuse. WHY are these magically beings are drawn to Scott's city on the moon? I thought they had their own plane of existence on earth, or from what I learned from the New Krypton arcs.... in fact this seems JUST like it, only with less promotion. I am all for the combination of Fantasy and Science, but I can enjoy it when somebody explains it? Governing a magic city on the moon is a job for GA Green Lantern? Speaking of magic, what's happening with the Marvel Family, we had a cannon story since the Wizard took Billy and Mary's powers away and is out for Freddy, what about that? Shouldn't there be a focus on THAT story concept?

Dan Didio doesn't like the Marvel Family (in the DCU at least, ironically he personally edited most of the Shazam Johnny DC kids book) and everything he does to them screws them up even more. I'm actually glad at this point they're not appearing so we are spared more the Evil Mary Marvel or ineffectual unrecognizable Billy Batson (aka the kid who is supposed to be the main character of the franchise - not Osiris, Black Adam or Freddy Freeman).

Given the choice, I'd much rather have the Marvel Family out of the regular DCU and relocated to Johnny DC permanently myself. Nobody seems to be able to do anything with them that isn't mindbogglingly terrible or pointlessly gross and depressing.
A fun, light-hearted all ages approach to the Marvel Family would be much more in the spirit of the characters than yet another convoluted story about Black Adam ripping off faces left and right.

Well the the Starheart (i believe) is magical in origin. i believe it was even stated to be the essence, or part of the essence of magick itself... so Alan as master of the Starheart kinda became a beacon for magic.

dont think this is a Jump the shark moment though, not in my opinion.

But still being a beacon for magic doesn't explain why so many magical people from different points of life just appear and settle. I would think there would be a clash between them to see who has the right to claim the moon, kinda like the space race...

Yeah, the Starheart was composted of all the old wild magic which the Guardians wanted excised from the universe, so magical beings being attracted to it makes sense to me.

Wait, how is that a jab at homosexuality? I know that "fey" has been a way to dance around a gay man's sexuality in the past, but "fay" or "fae" (both spellings are acceptable) is a pretty common term for fairies of the mythological sort.

By magic of course, by it's nature it runs counter to science, so photosynthesis is hardly an issue, though I'm sure they can magically amplify starlight, or just create the necessary light.

Or perhaps Starheart generated constructs are their equivalent of Doozer sticks
