WHY am I not buying this book? Clearly, there's something wrong with me.

There is but it can be fixed. It's great. I particularly like this bold-stroke style with modest figure work and deep blacks, and it would be nice if that direction caught on.

And Thor's relative simple-mindedness next to a smart person trying to be patient with him is always a winning bit of comedy. I'm reminded of Garth Ennis' Dr. Strange in VIKINGS, but he was a lot kinder than Loki is here. Loki's more like Blackadder talking to Stupid Prince George.

I've been resisting buying this because I've been growing more and more disillusioned with the DCU and Marvel U. But if it's an AU, I could enjoy it without feeling that it's pointless because sooner or later it will all go to hell.

I always assumed Loki was the younger brother.

Okay, that's about the closest Marvel has ever gotten to the mythological Loki. No red hair and still Thor's brother, but hopefully none of that dratted angst that makes no sense for a trickster.
