I don't think Millar's out to make any statements on gender or race relations or whatever; he's just a hack who knows how to get people riled up, and who uses that "gift" to take what he can as cheaply as he can and as long as he can. "

Date: 2010-10-18 02:08 am (UTC)I made a decision a long time ago regarding the Twilight series: as little as that woman deserves to be called an author in any regard, and as insipid as the books, films and fandoms are... it's not for me. It's escapist romantic bullshit for tween girls.
If I rage over it, I look like a "hater," and I empower stupid children to feel justified as counter-cultural. So, I let them enjoy and I bury my nose in a real book. That or something involving Batman.
Millar isn't writing for the net's largest LGBTQ-sponsered, anti-racist, anti-ableist, woman-friendly and otherwise discrimination and harassment free community. You're exactly the buttons he sets out to push. Ignore him.
Meanwhile, I'll be waiting for the second movie.
The man's comics are hit or miss, and the ending of the first comic arc was typical "bite me fanboy roflmao" bullshit, but the movie was great fun for everything except one unfortunate jet-pack.
