Does Superman Need Lois Lane?

Superman 704 came out today and it is a Lois-centered issue. It has some good stuff (OTP cuteness) and some stuff that makes me go buh? (see scans and comment here)

Does Superman need Lois Lane? Yes, yes he does. And despite her occasional doubts, she knows it.

To prove it I bring out Superman 80-page Giant #2 from 1999. It's an 8 page story talking about how Lois' feelings towards Clark. Superman had been brain controlled by Dominus and the people of Metropolis didn't trust him as much. Lois wishes they could see him the way she does.

It was super hard to trim this down, but here are 2 and 1/2 pages.

Clark's derp face is adorable combined with the apron :)

Eventually Lois reminds him (and others) that she still believes in him by cheering for him when he rescues a family from a fire. Yes, she is needed.

Oh i have to say, who saw Smallville last week and the week before?!? BEST CLOIS MOMENTS EVER!!!!!!!

OMG i know huh! last week was amazing and the moment at the end of "Reunion) the 200th episode was AWESOME!!!!

Lois working up the nerve to talking to Clark was great, Future!Lois was awesome :)

LOL i know, Future!Clark was just like so matter of fact the whole time like, eh time travel.

i love how lois was like. "Show me your eyes, what is it? Red? Blue? Green?" (i was seriously waiting for her to say "Oh its not Pink again is it? Jimmy still wont stop talking about the last time."

So many possibilities too many wasted fantasies.

(Hey even when the producers though there was bromance in early clark and lex,its okay to for a girl to dream right? )

While Lois and Clark have always been my comic OTP, in the early days of Smallville I shipped Lex and Clark so hard. There was just so much subtext. So. Much.

I only really got back in to Smallville about a year or so ago, as I was originally turned off by Lois at the time of her introduction. She's grown more into the character now and I can appreciate her Clark dynamic.

yeah totally. in the beginning she was like Clark. shades of CLARK/SUPERMAN were there, but not THERE. Same for lois, you could see shades of who Lois Lane was meant tobe, but it wasnt until lately that she started to become more like OUR Lois Future!Lois was much closer to her.

Yes,even the floating dance scene in "Homecoming" scene didn't touch me as much as the Isis one did.

i loved both scenes, but yeah i get why.

the first one was, awwwe how sweet.

THIS scene was like "OH FOR THE LOVE OF GOD IF YOU LET THIS WOMAN GO I WILL KILL YOU!"

i REALLY thought they were gonna just let her walk out and drag out the whole identity thing this whole season, but they surprised me. not many shows have been able to do that.

also when Erica Durance first started, there were bits and pieces of LOIS in her, but, like Clark, they were incomplete, she has slowly but surely growing into her role as Lois. she has bits and pieces of Margot and Terri in her, but has her own take on it that has really been growing the past few (two-three) years

also the way Clark was like all "Umm... lois... you see.... la la la..." it was like... oh Clark you will ALWAYS be that dork from smallville :)

also... anyone notice all the shiny glittery bits that flew up when Lois pounced?... whats the daily planet doing with all that glitter?.... or do we NOT want to know :)

you know i didn't think anyone could do an interpretation of Cat that i hated more than the comics version (and i don't mean that in a bad way, i like having a character you love to hate) she would probably feel right at home with Dr. Laura...

also... yeah i was soooo going there in my head :)
