Hmph, photographic memory in fiction is only as permanent as the plot demands...odds are that all the stuff he's written down is going to play a part in Flashpoint...

...nonetheless, that ability would be really convenient for me right about now.

Things is, Bart is FROM the future. So relatively speaking he didn't visit the future per se, rather he's currently living in the past. So shouldn't his entire memory of his childhood have faded by now?

Hey! Look over here! No, I said over here! Look! Shiny! Oooooh!

Now, what were you saying?

Pah, nice try, but I'm immune to shiny. If you'd said "Look! Tied up Robin!" then you might have had a chance.

It's what I do.... :)

Well, when I say that, I don't mean I DO do that of course, but am happy to spread around some purely fantastical scenarios of that.

Your other icon says much, and moreover, it's what every super villain seems to 'do' XD

Must be the butt.

Replying three times with minutely different text each time does not make me accept the "alternate timeline" approach any more readily you know! :P

Yeah, this kind of directly contradicts everything that's been established about how Bart's mind works, doesn't it? I remember when Linda was abducted by Abra Kadabra and hidden outside the time stream; Bart was the only one to remember her explicitly because he was from the future.

Um, the future he visited is going to be retconned away soon and the only record of it will be whatever he wrote down?

(And geeze, Bart, why not look into sports scores? A bit of careful non-excessive betting could give the team plenty of operating funds without disrupting the timestream. Unlike, oh, creating transparent aluminum a few decades early. Or inventing a teleporter for Lexcorp to take apart and weaponize. Sports scores are, as these things go, non-disruptive future info.)

But it's NOT the future to him, it's as much the past as the present he's in now is. (And I can hear Stephen Moffatt going "How confusing is THAT?" as he (notionally) reads that sentence!)

Transparent Aluminium was apparently created when it was supposed to be, it's just it's genesis which is paradoxical.

If Lex hasn't bothered hacking the JL transporter systems by now, he probably doesn't care about it.

It's an... alternate future? One that's fading from the timestream?

DO NOT TRY TO CONFUSE ME WITH YOUR EARTH LOGIC. I KNOW A PLOT DEVICE PREVIOUSLY UNRECOGNIZED ELEMENT OF TIME TRAVEL DYNAMICS WHEN I SEE ONE.

Maybe Bart was infected with brain-bleaching nanites? Forgetting the future isn't because of timestream issues; it's a symptom that he's soon going to regress back to Impulse?

Hey, if that's the end result I can probably live with it! I miss the kid who moves from concept to action without passing through that stage called "thought"

Gotta have something hopeful to think about when they start tweaking the metaphysics.

I like the idea of "goes back to being Impulse" a lot more than "is retconned to be from the 21st century in the first place, then time-traveled forward, then returned."

I can answer this for you quite simply: Impulse!Bart is not the same as KidFlash!Bart.

I'll admit my recollections of Bart's origins are a bit sketchy, but wasn't he pretty much raised in VR so he wouldn't go crazy with the whole "accelerated ageing" thing? So then I would assume that during that time, Meloni decided that teaching Bart the finer aspects of time travel & other futurescience as opposed to, how to try to interact with people.

Besides, hasn't it been canon that when most people travel to the 31st century via time-travel, they get a minor memory wipe to prevent any screwing with the timestream? I'd be more suprised that Bart managed to hold on to this info for so long after Saturn Girl would supposedly wipe it from him.
