I think that Chris Yost would have made a pretty good successor on Runaways after BKV left. He's good at writing teenage superhero drama/comedy.

Gambit. Storm. Cyclops. The X-Men don't have a lot of creativity when it comes to names.

Plus, Anole was given his codename by a fan who suggested it to Nunzio DeFillipis and Christina Weir on a message board they frequented. A lot of fan feedback was incorporated into the original Academy X/New X-Men run, which made the death of all those characters on the bus sting even more (but, as mentioned, the rest of the stories by Kyle and Yost have been great!)
