As New Female Characters week continues, I bring the best new superhero to hit NYC - Trouble. Buy her arc Dirty Tricks.

Also, if you will be triggered by 9-11 and women being punched in the face, don't look at this.

She stops to help a blind man, crushes under a fallen street lamp.

Yes, I teared up a bit at that.

If you're coming to this late and wondering what all of the comments are about... I've edited this post to make it less offensive.

"Also, if you don't like 9-11, don't look at this."

I suspect that might limit the number of people reading this post. I don't think many people here would class themselves as fans.

Uhm, I`ll admit that I`m not familiar with the title. Apart from helping the blind man, she doesn`t seem all that awesome. She looks like a lovesick puppy who ends up getting sucker-punched by the guy she obsesses over. Am I reading this wrong? Are there other redeeming adventures not posted here?

She's only in this arc, which I'm actually not particularly fond of, even though I love this book.

Yeah, I'm getting "New Female Character", not so much "Awesome New Female Character" from this.

Uh... what exactly is awesome about a female character getting punched in the face for having a crush?

This bit isn't Trouble being awesome.

The middle of her arc, where she takes up political vandalism is, because I went backwards and forwards on if I supported her or not.

I guess that the moral of this story is "Don't try to get a post together as quickly as you can".

I found the same moral in my last post :) We'll learn.

Then you should have posted the middle of her arc.

As it stands this isn't appropriate for Awesome New Female Characters week in a feminist community - girl is introduced, girl is punched, you laugh. Come on. Put yourself in other members' shoes here.

Also, trigger issues really, really aren't worthy of lolz and sarcasm.

I'm sorry.

There's a progressive editing issue with this.

I originally wrote "don't like" (too flippantly, but not lolzy), and Angelophile called me on it.

I didn't want to get rid of it, as I wanted to show that a change had been made to rephrase it.

Now it looks like it comes off even worse.

Would you rather that I just made it a straight up trigger warning?

A straight up edit would be better. As it stands it looks like you're using the strike out to make fun of people triggered by violence against women and 9/11. So, yeah...

You could throw in a "edited for clarity/because I was called on my flippant wording" at the end of the paragraph.

Okay, I see you've since removed the second set of scans of Trouble being punched into unconsciousness, but I have the unedited post still open in another tab with your original commentary.

"And that made me laugh like a drain when I saw it."

That? Is a really gross comment to make. You posted a scene of a woman getting punched by a man, acknowledged it as triggering, and then talked about how hard it made you laugh. Do you have any idea how sexist and creepy that comment was? How hurtful and offensive? It was inappropriate for a theme event meant to celebrate and highlight awesome female characters, and it's ABSOLUTELY inappropriate for a community created to be a female-friendly space. Totally skeevy.

[personal profile] stubbleupdate, comments about how a scene of triggering violence against women made you "laugh" are skeevy and inappropriate for a theme event meant to promote and celebrate female characters. And they're most definitely inappropriate for a community created to be a woman-friendly space, as they create an unsafe environment for female members. And, frankly, you have been a member of [community profile] scans_daily long enough to know that.

We've also had the issue lately where you've taken a flippant and disrespectful attitude toward other members over trivial things that really don't call for it. Please be more considerate of your fellow members as you contribute to this community, and don't talk down to them. The condescension is unnecessary.

This is your FIRST OFFICIAL WARNING. Please note that if you receive two further warnings you will lose the ability to post on this community.
