Terezei is a troll. Essentially that means she's an alien who lives in a very fucked up society based on war, death and survival of the fittest. She's also blind and has a very strong interest in law and order, something which she likes to LARP about every day. With her stuffed animals. Yeah, she's a bit weird.

So right now begins the trial of the century....Senator Lemonsnout on trial for stealing from the royal coffers. Let's watch shall we?

"Most of the interrogation is in the intimidating silence."

"You don't want to slap too hard. Enough to sting, but not to bruise. It must be methodical, business-like. And persistent. You only stop when you smell tears."

"Mr. Senator, you smell very nice. Your luscious yellow scales are like the sweetest gumdrops to the prosecution's nose.

But your deceit STINKS.

Did you honestly think you could dip your corpulent snout into the imperial beetle coffers like that and get away with it?? Did you think your revolting abuse of the public trust would go unnoticed??? THINK AGAIN, GOOD SENATOR. WHILE THE PROSECUTION MAY BE BLIND, REST ASSURED THE LEAGUE OF LEGISLACERATORS SEES ALL."

"Oh, well played, Lemonsnout. Well played. The prosecution's key witness, murdered. How convenient! The courtblock has little choice but to acknowledge your cunning. You have earned just a teensy sliver of your respect back. For now.

But wait... "

"As the prosecutor, it is your job to reach a final verdict and sentence the reprehensible felon, while His Tyranny watches in silence and submits grim approval.

But you take pity on this miserable bureaucrat. You are feeling merciful. You will give him a fighting chance.

You will flip a DOUBLE-HEADED TROLL CAEGAR to decide his fate. You do this quite often when making important decisions. Kind of like Batman's nemesis, Two-Face. Or that guy from No Country for Old Men. It turns out there are lots of badasses out there flipping coins. But those are Earth things and you've never heard of them. It's safe to say you borrowed this gimmick from one of the many, many troll things out there that's got hard boiled dudes flipping coins for major stakes. You base the habit on whichever one smells the most badass."

"A favorable flip. The senator exhales in relief."

"But, what are you so happy about, Mr. Lemonsnout?

He looks a bit confused. He quivers his lowly proboscis at the coin.

See? The coin has exonerated him."

"Coin? What coin?

Surely you jest, Mr. Senator. The prosecution sees no coin."

"SHE'S BLIND, REMEMBER?"

One of these nights when I can't sleep I've got to read this comic.

Your old soul is possibly defective, and must be replaced immediately.

A very small snippet of a much larger story, involving a rather disturbed individual even by the story's standards.

I always thought it was a bit too convenient that she was the one who got blinded by Vriska when she had the one Lusus who was able to teach her to cope with it. Of course, all of them have appropriate Lusus, but hers seems to have been planned for ahead of time.

Yeah, there's the paradox space thing, but this sorta gives the game away in a sense.

It's pretty much a function of Vriska's post-eye-blown-out (pre-regeneration) luck.

Justice may be blind, but rest assured it has one hell of a sense of taste.

If I've said this before, my apologies, but I wish I could "get" this comic, as the whole style of it is antiethical to my sensibilities (such as they are).

Really? That's pretty interesting, which elements do you speak of? The art style? The lack of dialogue? The fifty or so pages of inanity at the beginning?

There have been a couple of MSPA posts on S_D, so if you're tired of explaining yourself don't do it for my sake.

Largely, the art style and the way it ties into the dialogue as presented, too much of a disconnect for me. I haven't been able to judge the story because I just can't get into it enough to follow what the story is.

That's the problem with showing thse parts in the middle. Exposition was a lot more friendly at the beginning.

Not to mention, while this part is an interesting snippet, it really doesn't say much of anything about her as a character, and in fact takes place prior to the beginning of her adventure. So it doesn't include the changes she went through as a result of the game itself, or her contact with the kids, especially Dave.

It certainly doesn't say much about why she's an awesome character.

Also, is it bad that this part made me laugh? Like, a lot?

I got a giggle out of it my second time through, when I had a better handle on Terezei. I get bigger laughs out of some of Rose's early antics, though, especially in the lab basement.

I really wish shippers would remember that she's a violent nutcase. Then again, it looks like Hussie's forgotten too.

Compared to Equius, who has incredible issues with domination and breaks almost everything he touches, Vriska, who is a poster child for psychopathy, and Karkat, who lashes out at everyone, including himself in the past/future, Terzei is a model of mental health. She has a much smaller range of people who are "worthy" of violent insanity, since she only persecutes the "wicked" as displayed here.

Also, Homestuck shippers? I'm scared to ask.

Dunno if I'd call that a ship, more Karkat arbitrarily assigning partners to stop them doing stuff that annoys him. Less "I want these people to be together" and more "I want these people to go away".

Thanks in great part to S_D's efforts, I have finally started reading Homestuck again and now it haunts my every waking thought thank you very much

actually yes

THANK YOU VERY MUCH! :D

I just finished ACT III and just well just aaaaaaah. I am honestly not exaggerating when I say every time I think how marvelous and amazing and weirdly profound it all is, they top themselves again. And then again. Just because they can. It's just - well, the world of webcomics went up an essential skill level once MSPaint began, and we are going to see the ripples of this for a long time.

I went through nearly 4000 pages of this in three days.
This scene was actually one of the few that scared me. I think it was the final, not seen here, page where you see dozens of strung up dragon dolls.
And the only Homestuck ship I have is Terezi/Dave. Yes, I have a Homestuck ship.
