There's no way I was going to do weakness weak without Emp of all heroes :)

Empowered, a super heroine who gains her powers from a supersuit of unknown origin. It gives her strength:

Energy blasts:

And a handful of other powers. Badass.

With one... tiny weakness.

'Oops' is right, all gone! Emp's powers evaporate like the wind whenever her suit looses too much material.

Still, that's a ninja. Anyone can lose out to a lone badass ninja, it's not like it rips easy...

Oh yea, the rosebushes. There's a reason this suit earns a place in Weakness Week.

Still, at least it's awesome when functional, and it's not likely to cut out in a place that's too bad...

Last panel: "This sucks"

You said it, Emp.

Emp and Ninjette are from the seriously fun Empowered by Adam Warren

Don't sell her short. Despite her fetishy origins, she's one of the most well rounded and heavily characterised and developed female Super heroes around.

Honestly I think it's a testament to a creator who truly loves his character.

Yep, she sure is "well-rounded" all right. Hur hur!

But no seriously, Emp is awesome and kicks ass.

Yeah she's well-written, but I don't think describing her as a fetish character is really selling her short; the fetish aspect isn't just her origin, it also drives the plot an awful lot of the time.

I mean, if someone is squicked by humiliation kink then I don't think they could truly enjoy Empowered, even as fun and well done as it is. I couldn't anyway. Not a criticism - I'd have found it way hot if Emp was a guy - just an observation.

That probably explains part of my indifference towards the title. I just don't "get" the kink, so a lot of the alleged funny passes me by as well.

Well, that and I have trouble getting past "by Adam Warren".

NOt a fan of manga style and pouty lips? Eh, to each their own.

I think he's developed a lot as a writer, honestly.

Yea, I think his writing has had a few phases he's gone through.

Well, I love manga. But "faux manga" not quite so much, which is what Warren's always done. It's not manga I have a problem with, it's Warren.

I'm not sure "faux" is the right word. I prefer "heavily influenced by."

You know, like Avatar The Last Airbender is heavily influenced by anime, but I'd never call it "faux anime."

Warren started out by doing American versions of Dirty Pair and Bubblegum Crisis.

I think the main thing is that Emp is not just a fetish character, not that she's not a fetish character.

Or something like that.

From what I understand, he was originally getting a bit tired of all the heroine imperilment comics he was being paid to draw, started feeling sorry for one of the main characters and decided to write Emp.
