Some panels from Amazing Spider-Man #650

I might be posting more later, but until then, here are two panels from the latest issue of ASM.

I'll just let the fail speak for itself here.

(To clarify, the exchange is from MJ's POV. It's to show stupid she is in comparison to Carlie, who "gets" Peter)

If you wanted an additional slice of Spidey!fail...

Not really--I remember JMS doing something akin to this back in his run, where Peter was trying to explain something science-y and superhero-y and it was flying over her head. Slott's having a little bit more fun with it, though.

I read those arcs from a library copy years ago (the ultimate collections of that run is on my to-buy list, though), so I can't really say an exact issue number. It was around the time when John Romina Jr. was still drawing it, and it had this weird villain that had the souls of a group of dead 30s gangsters in some golem like body.

If the scene I think you're thinking of is the scene you actually are thinking of (and I've just looked through my 'Ultimate Collection' Volume 2 of Straczynski's run for this, you're welcome :-D) then the scene is slightly different in that it seems that Peter has just kicked MJ out of bed at six-thirty in the morning to microwave some waffles and ramble excitedly at her, which might explain why it goes over MJ's head somewhat; it's less an 'MJ's less intelligent about this stuff' and more 'MJ's still half asleep and not really processing'.

"Amazing Spider-Man #54" FYI.

But yes, this sort of thing isn't entirely without precedence (even if the current circumstances this example's being shown in might give cause to question the motives of those behind it).

Rereading JMS is it's own reward!

True.

But some form of extra reward would be appreciated as well. I mean, I was flipping through that book for five whole minutes.
