And that's not what what I'm getting here anyway. What I see is a woman who always puts the law first, even if her friends, family and herself suffer in the process. Depending how she feels about Spider-Man, that could be a serious wedge between her and Peter.

True. Carlie is a lot less willing to forgive those she regards as family and friends if they commit crimes, as opposed to Peter who, while certainly acknowledging they did wrong, is willing to at least allow people to have a second chance, probably due to his own feelings of guilt in regards with Uncle Ben's death. It's certainly an angle which definitely could be explored more.
