Though I think that it was changed in post to it being something less like actual cannibalism as it was the Silver Age.

That's a pretty bad reflex on Jubilee's part, especially if it's just a response to someone annoying her. It was hot enough to near instantly melt a head-sized block of ice, can you imagine what that would do to someone made of flesh? How many Xavier institute students has she given severe facial burns to?
