A Christmas posting for all!
Dec. 22nd, 2010 09:31 pmRobin the happy Christmas Wonder says "If you want to read an S_D classic Christmas story, then click here for Tim and the Joker's magical Christmas together, but you might want to stick around and enjoy the rest of this post first!"
Over the past couple of years, I've brought a special Christmas card to the community. The past couple of years it's been courtesy of The Black Cat. This year timing didn't work out that way, but I didn't want to disappoint. :)
So whilst the primary card is the first one below the cut, if the others are more to your taste, you just go with that! :)
Katie Cook is an artist I've showcased more than once, and when I got the chance to commission her, having seen her do such a nice job of the X-Men, I thought it only fair she have a go at my two favourite mutants!
So presenting, the best BFF'S in the MU! Cypher and Warlock!
That is possibly the most adorable li'l Doug I've ever seen, I mean... look at him. Sadly the scanner skips out a little on the fantastic colours on Warlock, with the yellow shading to green in some parts, but I like the big beaming grin (and the earring is an interesting affectation!)
Oh, and congratulations to Katie, on the safe arrival of her first child yesterday, a healthy daughter by the name of Grayson (Good name! :) )
Now I think it's fabulous, but if one of my... other tendencies is up your street then stick around, something for (nearly) everyone in Santa icon_uk's sack!
This one of my more recent Mitch Ballard commissions, and I'm delighted by it!
You hardly need me to provide context here, but... Here the Riddler has Batman exactly where he wants him... playing a televised game of "Hangman" to guess his secret identity.
But as always, the Riddler has rigged the game in his own uniquely psychotic fashion. If Batman confirms Riddler's guesses honestly, he's blowing his secret identity, if he lies to divert him, the platform Robin is balancing on drops another inch and the noose gets a little tighter! (and if Riddler thinks Batman is delaying or prevaricating, then "Sudden Death" will take on a whole new meaning to Robin)
How long can the Caped Crusader stall the Riddler before Gotham learns his secret, or the Boy Wonder becomes the games biggest loser?
This next one is from Darryl Banks, an artist I've long wanted to get a commission from, and I've tickled pink with it, as it's a wonderful addition to my DicKurt collection! :)
Evil beware! Justice is in the air, and it's looking both determined AND awesome! :) It's a terrific Robin, a fantastic Nightcrawler and I just LOVE the posing here, Kurt is loving being with someone who can match him leap for leap and Dick's all business!
Now it wouldn't be Christmas without something from the Black Cat, albeit not a Christmas-y one per se (And it's not Batman and Sons either)
Remember this post? Well, in a discussion with
So imagine the scene. Dick has been taken captive.... AGAIN, and is tied to a chair in the villains lair. His tunic has been opened, which would be bad enough, but the villain is a new one on the scene called "The Purple Nurple", so Dick has a rough foreboding of what might be ahead for him... Suddenly, there's a strange sound behind him, and he hears impacts, the Purple Nurple and his henchmen are lying on the floor unconscious. Who could his mysterious saviour be? Surely it must be Batman, as always there to rescue him.
And then a shadowy shape lands lightly on the back of the chair... he can't quite get a glimpse of them. Then, descending into his line of sight comes a long, blue... tail! Curled in it's prehensile grasp is a long, soft feather... and suddenly Dick knows true fear... Someone knows his weakness, and that person could only be....
"Guten Aben Robin... no, no, don't get up on my account. I think it's time we had a little chat about justice, and karma, and a certain... mean little trick involving an impressionable mutant visitor and a giant mechanical T-Rex... I recall you laughed then, and now I think it's time we both shared a laugh, no?"
And as the VERY ticklish Teen Wonder tries to squirm out of the way, we should perhaps draw a curtain over the scene that follows.
So, as always, I'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone in the community. For the fun, the discussions, and
And finally, a little something extra for Christmas;
For legality, and as a lead in, remember this?
Well, looking at Wally in the image below, I think Dick's plan finally worked! :)
A Scans Daily
This was a surprise present from Mitch, and I ADORE it, the posing is great, the Robin-containment unit is awesome in an Perez-ian manner, and the expressions are utterly fabulous...
So, what is Wally saying? What is Dick saying? What is the person walking in on them saying? Over to you s_d, and let the creative (and any other appropriate) juices flow! :)

Date: 2010-12-23 12:43 am (UTC)For some reason, Kurt looks a more feral than usual (both places). In TBC's work, it's understandable that he should be a little extra mean-looking during payback.
If the goal was to arouse Wallace, I would say Dick succeeded wildly... "O hai, Roy! You're just in time for Bat-Anti-Tickle-Torture training! We're just starting Dick's turn, then you can be after me!"

Date: 2010-12-23 01:08 am (UTC)All the villains get letters shoved under their doors with a message inside. "Come to the abandoned complex on 14th Street, we have kidnapped Robin, stripped him half naked, Batman's out of town and Robin is NOW COMPLETELY HELPLESS! $10 for 5 minutes."
My God, the villains would be queued three deep around the block trying to get in, it's BRILLIANT! AND profitable!

Date: 2010-12-23 08:10 am (UTC)...in fact, let's charge for Web access to the cameras watching the whole thing. That way the Birds of Prey and friends can sit around the Watchtower with Babs' HDTVs, eating popcorn and watching the show, ostensibly to provide backup if the sting goes wrong somehow.

Date: 2010-12-23 07:41 pm (UTC)Judging by Dick's slightly smug smile, I think it's more that Wally has fallen in line with one of Dick's more complex plans. (And remember, the sub IS the one with the power in any relationship.)
